    I did too.

    Went to art school, like the logic and thoughtfulness of graphic design so pursued that as the fine art department was super pretentious.
    Design is the commercial arm of art/communication, so I don't mind. It solving other people's problems which I enjoy.

    Art is selfish, it's generally all about yourself. I do still draw/paint in my spare time as a hobby. But I do it for the love of it, not to make money.

    I find that trying to make money from something usually take all the enjoyment out of it. But graphic design was always a commercial pursuit so it doesn't grate so much doing it for a living.
