Hello DaveO motion tracking is perfectly fine, it is an umbrella term. Because you are analyzind the motion of the picture wether you stabilize or follow an object using tracking points.
It's nice I quite like the video although it makes me feel sick, however lots of this can be done by simply enlarging the picture and making a cross in the centre of the screen and picking your focus point and keep the spot locked to that, it's a quick and actually very useful way to do it. Other stuff can be done by wearing the camera on a certain part or locking it to an object that is being moved as well, plenty ways to achieve things in film thats the exciting part of the industry trying to work out ways to do different things :) good luck.
