Yeah i've worked with both, the PD150 is less ominus looking and more compact that the XL1S, that's if your interested in shooting at a more pedestrian level, the audio is top notch though and you have a fixed lens (but you can buy some decent adapter lens to have some variety) the XL1S is more expensive, interchangeable lens, more precarious to lug around and "pro" looking. hence the PD150 is a great second camera for a set to support an XL1S. Also, panasonic just came out with awesome camera, like a mix between the PD & XL, you must check out... also does super fast shutter speed like the style/effect you see on the beginning of "saving private ryan" and new CCD technology... it all depends on what you want, convienence or respect...
