Installing a fresh OS is like an itch you must scratch or you won't be able to sleep, isn't it?

I find it fascinating. Time and again, people, most of them depending on their computers for work, install a new OS the minute it's been released, get screwed by it, then go and lament online. Same with phones and tablets.

What is it? Short memory that made you forget last year's widely reported upgrade disaster, even if it was smooth for you?

Or is it a voice of "reason" in your head saying "your OS is obsolete, you must update immediately in order to keep your computer safe and working optimally"?

    • no need to update to the latest but if you stay behind 2 or 3 versions more than likely you won't get security updatesernexbcn
    • I don't mean "never update", didn't get Yosemite only because UI Helvetica looks off on pre-retina screens. I'll get El Cap'n when it's stable, 10.11.2 or so.shaft
    • I wait a little while, but not too long. My main reason to update is to have the latest security.nb
