Whatever legitimacy he had to overthrow Batista he wasted it by staying on power for decades and crippling the cuban people. That's what most Fidel apologists like to ignore when looking at the guy and keep romanticising the revolution.
They also like to talk about literacy and health care when everybody knows health care in Cuba is in shambles and the decent health care and facilities are reserved for the high ranks of the revolution.
This guy left our realm too late in my opinion.
