Hi!
I know some of you are running online tshirt shops. I'm about to go into business with a band merchandise supplier, and we are talking about setting up an online shop.
So I'm not really keen on writing the whole shop from scratch, if there are any good solutions out there I can buy (or better yet, download).
Anyone know of any good software/script packages I can use for this project?
It's gonna be a fairly large database of tshirts, hoods and other merchandise, so I might need something quite complex.

Perhaps you should consider MadMerch. It's very inexpensive and there is a lot more to opening up shop than just shopping cart software. You will also need a merchant account, payment gateway, secure certificate, some form of order fullfillment (unless you don't plan on growing) and packing and shipping. There will also be customer service to think of, including returns, exchanges and credit card fraud. MadMerch handles all of that for you and you can be up and running in a few days, free to focus on designing your products rather than worrying about all of the business aspects. MadMerch provides instant reporting and monthly accounting with payment. Check it out www.madmerch.com

are you seriously asking a group of designers and developers how you can cut corners by not using anyone to develop this for you?
WORD TO THE WISE: You Get What You Pay For!
I would look into something already existing pre-made online stores. All you'll have to do is just plug in your information and product pictures and your off and running
The only one I would recommend is http://www.verisign.com because its authenticity straight from the source.

justice--> nice advertisement! I see you must work for MadMerch.
I forgot about them so I would suggest on looking into it.

here's a nice open source solution. it's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it is free and reliable.

Thing is, justice, the costumer support and all that stuff is already taken care of. This will be on our own servers, with our own distribution and stuff.
I didn't want to offend any unemployed programmers here. I WILL program this by myself (the best I can, anyways) if I don't find anything already made. I don't think the budget allows hiring another programmer.
Any tips on online commerce software (free or not) that will be suitable for a tshirt/merchandise shop is appreciated. Basically anything that will save me some time.
testpilot: I'm looking into the oscommerce thing.

perhaps just create a paypal store?
- schjetne0
Won't a paypal store look a bit cheap for a BIG range of products?
- schjetne0
Besides, most norwegians don't have Paypal accounts...
- fuckfascists0
no, im pretty sure there is software or code that will allow you to integrate the store into your site. also, paypal allows credit card transactions. i belive thats how we are going to set up our store. i think they take a teeny cut.

Do you have any examples of huge commercial sites powered by Paypal?
Everyone I've seen are small shops with only a few products...
