I have been researching this for a while now.
Using ASP and VBScript the solution I think I am going to try is implemented through Dreamweaver MX .
For CC processing I am going to use Verisign.
This extension works well with Verisign:

Problem is, since most of these services are in the US, it will be difficult for us to do business with them.
That's why I'm looking into packages we can use on our own servers...
Anyone else have suggestions?

I have been using WebCatalog from SmithMicro for three years now for all of the ecommerce stores I have developed. Its a plugin that is used in conjunction with your existing server software such as Apache, WebStar, IIS, etc.
Its a little pricy but I have always found it does everything I need.

Sorry, things got a little out of hand between me and silver. I promise I'll only write in english from now on...

dsmith7: You think I could see some of the commerce sites you've made using this package?
- dsmith70
i hate the design cause I had no part in them but here is the list.

http://www.oswegohealth.orgin addition to the ecommerce side, WebDNA has a wonderful general backend for regular programming comparable with ColdFusion, Perl, or ASP. Its also really easy and I have found it a joy to use. you can see other sites I have used WebDNA in at my portfolio at http://www.dsmith7.com

Thanks, dsmith7, I'll look into that. Is it difficult to get into for a designer?
- schjetne0
Anyone else have any suggestions? I want to look into as much as possible before I get to work, so I'm sure I've found the right solution for our concept...

Sorry. I didn't realize it wasn't cool to try and drum up some business. What's with all of the hostility? You are perfectly welcome to do it yourself. We have also looked into OSCommerce as well as more advanced services such as OrderMotion. The reason I bring up MadMerch (other than the fact that I work there) is because we have plenty of well known designers that have gone the route you are on (do it yourself) only to eventually realize that there is a lot more work to it than they first realized. They hit a wall and were at the point where they were not having fun anymore and as a result their creativity was suffering and their customer service was suffering. The desire to create our own shopping cart system is exactly the reason MadMerch exists. We know what you are going through because we went through it already. I guess the war must be making everyone tense. I wish you all the best in your search. :)

Oh ya, DSmith, I invite you to ask any one of our MadMerch store owners if they have gotten what they have paid for. Please. I beg you.

justice:
Sorry if I have said something that sound hostile. I respect your attempt to promote MadMerch, and I would consider it if I was in another situation.
Thing is, this isn't some designer diy project. What I'm going to do is create an online presence for a business that's been around for years, the biggest band merchandise business in Norway.
If it was for a personal project, I would have hired someone to take care of everything... Perhaps someone like MadMerch.

sorry for the norwegian, it was nothing of intellectual or educational interrest whatsoever.
ehh... nice profile pic jan!
