John Zorn: everything form PainKiller , to Naked City, to Masada (ora any Tzadik project) is groundbreaking. Although not always 'easy listening'.
One of my favourite albums of all time:

I've allways liked the mothers of invention, but felt a lot of Zappa's later stuff was a bit daft. And you had to wade though a lot of second rate stuff to find the gems...
Now Beefheart, he's the man!
And he could paint. The probelm was he signed contracts with any lable going at the same time... and could'nt understand when he ended being sued. That messed up his recording for most of the 70's.

yeah vena, captain beefheart is amazing. without Zappa or Beefheart with would be difficult for music like the one Beck does, to exist.

I love him too. Also love the names Ahmet, Dweezil, Moon Unit and Gita. I'm not that sure about the fourth name. Is that one right?

"Consider for a moment any beauty in the name Ralph."-- Frank Zappa, on being asked by Joan Rivers why he gave his children such odd names
