Sorry had to put in a comment. I hate this company with a passion. Yes it is true that they have a discriminatory hiring process.
I met this guy the other night at a Damien Rice concert who said he worked there. He was from out of state looking for a job, but wasn't actually looking and they came up and asked him if he wanted one. He is white by the way. We talked about this a bit and he said that he took more because he needed a job.
The manager at the store also got all up in arms because the guy wanted to wear a belt w/ a buckle and bracelets. It is obvious that flare is not allowed at this store. Well at least if it doesn't say AF on it.
They rehash the same clothes every year and it is barely touching the grunge/punk scene. They will never be able to tap that.
Tell your friends in the outer reaches of the world not to buy it. You'll only look like a wanker if you do.
Long live vintage and flea markets. And other fine brands.

You got that right AssasinAve.
In high school I got into thrift stores, around 1994 and my mom loved it because she could take me shopping for pennies on the dollar to a place with new clothes. I was happy, she was happy.
I still have plenty of thrift store stuff, quite a few wool blazers and some nice full length coats.
But more partial to stuff that's new, especially when I wear a shirt and tie to work 4 days a week.
I worked part time at Banana Republic for over a year, and might go back for the holidays to make a little extra money. I was in there the other day and their new stuff is the best yet. They got a new designer in the time I was working there, and the clothes really went up in quality.
As far as work clothes, that's the only stuff I wear. Great discount working there.

teh craziest thing about ambercrombie is the history behind the brand - ambercrombie is actually really old - more liek j peterman style stuff - and they rebranded/remarketed themselves into what they are now. it's actually a very interesting case study...

yikes! a little to much talk about abercrombie going on here....

pure crap clothing IMO. I wore it when I was in college and cannot stand to see it now. I mean seriously, take a step up and support a smaller designer even if cost you more. I personally dig D&G, Armani and Roberto Cavalli and you would be surprised at the deals you can get and they last ten times longer. It's all about the material, the cuts are virtuall the same. :)

clothes?
poofs!

also support: Issey Miyake, Rogan NYC, and even JPG if the shit is nice enough and doesn't make me look 100% Gay. No offense. I am not a poser, nor a slacker, just appreciate finer things sometimes. I think Europe rubbed off on me a bit. Typical Americana clothing is pure shite! :)

Where do you find all this fancy stuff for these economical prices?
I would be interested, but I have never come across it, or maybe I just didn't realize.

personally i save up cards from john player special and in return i recieve: bodywarmers, with a gold logo, xl-tshirts(good for sleeping in)- speedo style swimming trunks, again with the logo in gold, but resembling a keyring and more importantly a brushed imitation cashmere scarf with a pen loop and emroidered logo. smoke on fashionistas!

contacts in the Biz, more or less befriending people working in retail shops that get 50% off clothing plus sale prices. You have to go to Specialty Shops to be honest. That's the name of the game unless you order online but then again you can always do the Masses thing at places like Macys, etc, etc. US-wise anyway. I used to buy cheap, well-designed stuff in Milano and other parts of Italy off of struggling designers and their stuff was unique and nice!

I used to have one of those JPS jackets when I was a kid, it was my fave, I felt special with that flashy gold badge.
As for abercrombie, I'd say its a load of shite. I cant believe you live in Tokyo and your even asking for that shite, whats up with the tokyo stuff huh. then again its just clothes you know.
- grafiske0
That's a good idea with the struggling designers, unfortunately I will have to stick to Thrift Stores and Consignment shops, I live in central Massachusetts, not too many fashion designers here.
