"Jim"
I have no idea where this came from or what it means, yet I still use it.
I await Rand for an explanation, yet I know I will be greeted with a riddle, a riddle with no answer.

Should I be the friend YOU need? Or continue to angrily keep to myself ... ?

I can hear a kid screaming loudly down the street, but I'm pretty sure she is not being murdered.

rasko, I will provide an answer, though it will likely disappoint, and you will wish that I'd let it remain an enigma.
I don't like the term "dude" and one day was wishing for an alternative that I might use in every day parlance without seeming a part of the fratboy populace. A phrase from the Velvet Underground song "Sweet Jane" suddenly came into my head: "Ridin in a Stutz bearcat, Jim, you know, those were different times." I've tried since to bring this term into common usage via the internet, but so far with less sucess than my previous efforts, "//" and "gfy".

might I add, "lol" (another term I resist) at your attempts to obtain a satisfying right rag to the PVN

why not "lorem" for dude. I mean 'jim"

"jim" is stupider and more ordinary, and for that reason more inexplicable, as if rooted in the past

I joined the Rand Fan Club and all I got was a letter saying
"mayo,
gfy
lol, Rand."
my check for $75 was already cashed so that I couldn't stop payment on it. :(

it is possible, but I like to think he was just tossing it off like dude

Wasn't Blanka the green electric dude in Street Fighter? He had that one move that looked like he was always trying to cup Ryu's balls.
- ********0
fittingly, when I clicked that link, it was "blank"
- ********0
mayo, that meant good friend you
- mayo0

stfu
"stay thoughtful, friend...ukulele."
- rasko40
thanks for the explanation Rand, and no I am not dissapointed, on the contrary, I will now assist you with the recontextualising of "Jim".
