She and I spent a week shooting five erotic glamour models in locations around London. What a week that was.

Friend of ours does these photography projects that he's always trying to get published; he takes great pictures, but the subject is always a bit odd.
He went down to a public market, set up a sheet as a backdrop and asked anyone that bought a water melon to pose for him with their melon. He also went to thailand and only took shots of the bicycle seats of rikshaws, which all look horribly uncomfortable.- it's no erotic glamour model, but what is these days...Greedo
- Cool, any links to his stuff?canuck
- just this:

Greedo - he worked at polaroid in the 60s and took home all the screw-ups, made a book out of themGreedo

I'm thinking smashing and squishing fruits would be the best school-safe alternative to something gory (which I would normally prefer).
We can do any topic we want. She's looking at composition, framing, and depth of field work. Lenses can be anything we want, but most people will be using the telephoto zoom ones. It will be a photo essay/journal. Shooting 150+ photos; using around 11 for the final project. Not post-processing allowed. Shooting in RAW.
I have a Canon 20-700mm f/4.0L lens with a Canon Rebel XTi camera. I could borrow other things if I really wanted to.
- Maybe go find a public event and shoot it. Not sure what is going on this weekend in Ottawa but i'm sure something is on.canuck

Would you let someone use your real name and life in a book of fiction?

That's really weird... I had this idea a few weeks ago of making a really fast edited video sequence of things that are not at all violent or gory but allude to it, and the rapid cut editing technique would make the whole thing go by so fast your brain would not have time to really process what it was looking at. The things I thought of were:
1. A hand holds an egg in front of an eye and a finger jabs the egg to break it cut to... A breadstick rests between splayed fingers and immediately a hand snaps it upwards cut to... a piece of polystyrene packaging fits against the throat and a bread knife is drawna cross and into it cut to a naked leg standing next to a chair leg and a machete strikes the chair leg cut to etc etc
I just couldn't think of enough sceanrios to make it worthwhile. I though a soundtrack of pain expressions underneath some calming music would further confuse the senses about what was happening.
- a hammer striking a fruit next to a hand was one.. and what links your idea to this post!SkyPoo
- why not strike the hancapsize
- spooky, view my favourite opening:

Movies use the technique you mentioned too.Jaline - mentioned often. Rapid cuts = more frantic feeling.Jaline
- I was going to mention that opening too.killthefish
- OTH, I think spooky's idea is different than that, and worth pursuing.killthefish
- Like it. Nice nice. Whenever you lot talk about Dexter I thought you meant Dexter's laboratory hahaha true.SkyPoo
- hahahah, that's what I thought of when I first heard about the show.Jaline

I had an idea for a photo story too not so long ago too but again I never got around to thinking of enough scenarios to make it work as a body.
One key one was... photograph a female hand removing an envelope from under a car windscreen wiper. The envelope flap is open and the photograph inside it is falling out. The photograph can be seen clearly, and it is a male hand, sliding the envelope under the car's windscreen wiper.
Another was to photograph a book that was laying open on a page that featured a photograph of a closed book. The open book would be held by two hands and the same two hands would hold the closed book in the in-book photograph.
I had about five ideas like that and was already to go then I though oh fuck it I cannae be blathered. But maybe a narrative approach might be good who knows.
- A woman facing a mirror with her eyes closed. In the mirror, her eyes are open.killthefish
- Hard to show clearly in one shot though.SkyPoo
- I was thinking that also. She'd probably have to not be looking directly at the mirror, which wouldn't be as cool.killthefish

i totally got a marijuana card yesterday, and bought a big thing of hash.
in a store.
LEGALLY.
god bless california.
- I bet legal hash is tame as fuck.SkyPoo
- what is a marijuana card?canuck
- How'd you get one? Are you sick?locustsloth
- doesn't posting in this thread make on sick by definition?killthefish
- a marijuana card lets one walk into a marijuana store and buy marijuanascarabin_net
- i got it by telling a doctor i have anxiety
you can use any excuse though, a friend of mine claimed PMSscarabin_net - marijuana as cure for anxiety? wonders never ceasehallelujah

A photograph that is framed in a black eye shape which evokes the sense of being a hole in a novelty mask. In the mirror directly opposite the eye hole we see through, there is the reflection of a person who is clearly not wearing a mask, but has lines drawn all over the face quite crudely as though to suggest puppet-like articulation.
SHOOT IT.
- Mebbe not.SkyPoo
- Sounds excellent. Have to see it to know if the eye-hole in a mask would be clearly that.killthefish
- notttthallelujah

VINDICATED!
Just received an invite to the opening of a friends' contemporary art exhibition. I had hoped to have their rebrand and site as a job this summer, but was 'too expensive' (really, not at all - and I've done this guy loads of favours and cheap work in the past).
Contemporary art logo ... a mix of Impact and some other banal sans, with a detail that wouldn't look out of place on the frontage of a 1980s hairdressers. And I don't mean that in a knowing 2012 Olympic brand fashion, either - I mean it in its worst possible sense.
Also, their site is fucking atrocious - not at all the graceful, minimal experience I had lined up - and to top it off, there's a boatload of schoolboy spelling errors.
THAT'S WHAT YOU FUCKING GET IF YOU OUTSOURCE TO POLAND, YOU FUCKING GOON.

I vastly prefer fruit on the bottom yogurt to the already mixed style.
- Hmm...both have a purpose. With other food = I prefer plain. By itself = mixed.Jaline
