i just had the worst case of client input in a design i have ever had.
after ok'ing the treatment i did for an eflyer and indicating they wanted that treatment across the rest of the printed materials.. i get this email today..
they are wanting me to incorporate some fluro pink and orange color palette into the existing sepia background..
apart from the fact that this all going to be CMYK, so it will be just magenta and orange.. how does magenta and sepia work on any level..
struggling..
badly- haha. fuck, clients have no sensescarabin

so i have this douchebag couple that lives in the townhome next to me (we share a wall) - i've only lived here a couple months. so the first night i moved in i was extremely tired and blazed a joint before going to bed. well weird thing the guy from next door knocks on my door like at ten at night and tells me he can smell weed and it was coming through the wall and that i should smoke with a window open. might i add i live in a weed mecca - vail, co. well i was shocked to say the least and just said ok and closed the door lightly. however i had a serious problem with this already and the very next i smoked out my backdoor like he said and i could here his stupid fat girlfriend freaking out screaming inside that she could smell weed - like totally freaking out. so i was like well fuck it i'm just gonna smoke inside. well last night after two months i get a note on my door saying the same thing.. its kinda hilarious really.. i don't give a motherfuck and i'm totally legal (MML).. i mean how dare they tell me what i can or can't fucking do in my own pad i pay rent? so they can kiss my ass and i continue to blaze the fuck down.. fuck em' they should fix their wall, get a fan, get over it, or just fucking DEAL WITH IT! i mean i feel if you're the type of person that is shit-picky about your neighbors then you probably shouldn't live in a townhome complex..and my neighbors on the left haven't complained one bit..anyway fuck this blog out </>

Take the high (no pun intended) road. Write a civil note explaining the legality of your medication, maybe ask them what their main concern is, if it's beyond plain annoyance, and tell them you'll do your best to be considerate of them (maybe smoking on the opposite side of the house from them), if they work to be understanding of your position.
They feel like they have a say in what you do in your pad because it's not being contained to your pad. Just like if they were playing music too loud and it bothered you, you might go ask them to turn it down.
If the guy doesn't react in a level-headed and amicable way to that tact, you know there's no pleasing them (there's probably no pleasing the chick from the sound of it anyway), and you can go about your business knowing that you extended a measure of good will and willingness to compromise.
And if he does act favorably, then you've befriended (at least in a small measure) someone that you essentially share living space with, which is never a bad thing.

"Is something wrong?" she said
Of course there is
"You're still alive," she said
Oh, and do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?

a job out of left field in december has become one of the funnest things i've been a part of personally...
i was asked to photoshop a silverware tray around a photo of some silverware sitting on a table. i reminded the client and the middle men bringing me into the job that 3d models were available of the clients entire collection of silverware.
i used those to 3d model the said tray in a configuration fitting within the confined parameters that i thought was pretty unique.
In essence i circumvented their entire design phase as they were looking to have collateral for a meeting to possibly sell the items as a set. having provided my low quality renders in time for their meeting, they were asked when they could take stock.
I was a success. It was now not if they could sell them but when.
The job continued from there allowing me to fine tune the design, a fellow engineer to create the files for tooling, and another friend to run the prototypes themselves.
From there I have photographed their entire silverware collection for web and print.
I was then asked to provide high quality renders of the item in different finishes on different surfaces for them to review before finalizing production decisions.
I am now creating the artwork for the Tray wrap as the the SKU for the tray arrived this morning. I was told in my overview of services that I have creative freedom though how intricate would one make such a thing?
In summary, I've created a product for a company, helped prototype it, prepared it for production, and am now creating advertising and supporting collateral for it.
I guess the moral of the story is; if you can, offer more than they ask for, it may turn into bigger things for you.
Good days. :)
