Just got back from my first trip to Hawaii, mainly Kauai and the big island.
So much good; beaches of course, Kilauea, Mauna Kea and those 'scopes, Waimea Canyon, Napali cliff trails, the Kalalau trail and Kauai in general.
Waikiki was like Dubai airport with the roof removed. Like some horrible version of the future where everything is mall.
And +1 for Qantas and their flight attendants; all male, all straight and all over 40.

I had this weird dream tha Han Solo and I had to escape a strange dimension and we were trapped in an empty hotel. So he told me to jump off the 4th story hallway and into the pool.
He went first and half his body landed in the water but his head hit the side concrete quite violently.
I went second and successfully landed entirely in the pool. Barely.
I asked Solo if he was doing okay and he shrugged it off and said he was fine.
Then we went to jump again.
I think my dream lost track of the narrative.

Teaching my daughter how to identify, avoid and swim out of rip tides for the past couple hours, great morning, now back to work.
- Shit, teach me too? I encountered my first one last summer and it freaked me out a bit - i'd always felt quite a confident swimmer 'til then :\detritus
- I pull people out of rips about once every couple months, kids and adults, they can be pretty intensemoldero
- best thing to do in a worst case scenario is learn how to tread for long periods of time using minimal effort, keeping air in your abdomen and just floatmoldero
