Anyone else get a big influx of spam messages in their email today? I usually average 10-15 over a 24 hour period. I had 10x that today. I thought I forgot to clear them out, but they all came today.

Ran into an old (78yo) lady I know, she had a coffee and told me this story about a new hip coffee chain on our block.

“you know that goddamn computer they have that you put your card in? It asks you to tip and the guy working was almost rude and it’s just a coffee so I tapped No Tip and you know what it did? It said ARE YOU SURE and asked for a tip again! I told that apathetic asshole behind the counter No tip until you smile buddy and he just looked at me.”

Hahaha. I love it. She has me convinced. I may stop tipping altogether.

My uncle lost his wife few years ago due to cancer. They had a kid together that is now about 6. It was of course hard for everybody in our family and especially for him to lose the love of his life.

But he should’ve appreciated that he still had their daughter and to be there fore her.

Instead he became an alcoholic. I can’t believe it. He just totally let himself go.

My mom already had enough difficulties in her life and looked after everybody and now she also is doing her best to take care of the girl as much as she can.

I find it absolutely shameful and disrespectful that somebody would turn to alcohol when you have a kid to take care of.

And now he’s being threatened that they may take the kid away from him. It’s so sad that the little girl will also lose her dad after losing her mom.

    • Maybe go see him and get him help?shapesalad

    Email from the kids school....

On Wednesday, Year 4 will be taking part in “U.S.A. Day”. The day will consist of some cooking, line dancing and other American inspired activities! Children will be allowed to wear suitable American themed clothes instead of uniform.

For example: go “cowboy” or maybe wear that ‘I heart NY’ T shirt! There is no requirement to purchase a specific costume for this event.

I wonder if you yanks have a similar kind of shit for Britain. Sheppards Pie and Black Tracksuits?

I don't understand why everyone has tattoos now.

My coworker has a giant eagle on her arm. My other coworker has a paper airplane on his wrist.

BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH... shit's still not in my mailbox and we are now PAST 60 days past due (invoice sent early January w/standard 30 day agreement). It's for a substantial amount of money that was supposed to pay my taxes and some hardy bills that have built up these last few months since moving 2500 miles across the country. I ended up having to file a tax payment extension w/penaltie$ (yes yes... I cut off 27 months of corona hair growth last night. Going to donate it to a kids cancer wig charity in BC.

My year and a bit old boots have worn down soles which have begun wearing into the internal cavitations, so I've had wee stones sneaking it and jostling around, annoying my walks to work.

I looked into getting them re-soled, but the cheapest I saw was £70, with most prices towards £90-100, so then thought "I can do this" (I likely could not) so looked on eBay for replacement soles, and added in the type of boot I had to ensure correct response and.. oh. Someone's selling a pair of boots they've "only worn for an hour" (yeah, right) and so be-cidered Nairn made an offer ten pounds under, for £70 and BOOMPH, accepted. Paid and today delivered.

And now I have a pair of essentially brand new boots that don't look like they're even been worn for an hour even and which cost me £120 less than I'd normally pay for a new pair.

I've contacted the seller to offer them the ten pounds back, as I feel a bit guilty, but fucking hell, I never expected to be happy at buying second hand shoes, never mind from bloody eBay.

    .

Still a bit irritated that the boots I'm wearing have a failed me after two winters - I usually replace them on the third winter, bunch of bastard.
