Good luck the saner, nicer bits of secular Turkey! However, living in [not so] Little Turkey as I do here in London, I get the distinct impression that Erdogan's mob of religious business types are in the ascendant... . They're quite a nasty bunch.

Still think of / regret breaking up with one person 14 years ago.
I was young, dumb, insecure, ambitious, thought I could figure it out. Then she went on to get the job I wanted and married someone else.
- Yeah, I know that feeling all too well.formed
- real life issues man. Gotta get over that one, but yeah, i think of this a lot tooIanbolton

Where should I stay in Tokyo for 2 weeks?
- I stayed in a capsule hotel once, only really good for a night. I saw some cheaper hostel sized rooms a while back that seemed reasonablePhanLo
- near komazawashapesalad

- These areas: Komazawa, Sangenjaya, Shimokitaza. Are good for getting to Nakameguro, Shibuya, exploring, drinking, etc.shapesalad
- Tokyo is vast, and most areas lack ambience. Those areas are studenty/ young worker sort of feeling with hidden gems.shapesalad
- Areas I mention.shapesalad

- Komazawa park is nice to chill out in during the hot summer evenings. and to escape the intense claustrophobic streets.shapesalad

Note in the logbook: It is May 16, 2023, it rains to seas and it is cold.
- Spring hasn't been great there, either? Here in Munich, it's been a real shit sandwich since last month. Not really warm, and pissing it down with rain.Continuity
- It's been raining for weeks, when the sun comes out it's stifling; but we still haven't been able to get rid of our winter clothes...OBBTKN
- And they are forecasting rain for the remainder of the week and at least the following :(OBBTKN

Just delivered my first commercial as a writer/producer hybrid. I finally have both creative and process control of my work. I’m overjoyed.
- Nice!! :)PonyBoy

- Congrats, sounds like you’re living the dream!!dee-dubs

- Grats.
curious. the writer strike doesn't effect you? or only union members.pango - I’m not a union writer. But, I do make branded content for union shows. So all of my current pitches don't use union cast or the actual sets from the show.shellie
- For instance: Instead of using cast I can write around fan “influencers”. And if shows go dark on strike, they’ll just play reruns and my content still works.shellie
- Realizing I didn’t answer your Q pango. Ent studios do plenty of non union shoots for content like marketing. Ad agencies also do too. Just staff differently.shellie

I know that some of you really like the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto.
His management has released the playlist of his funeral:
'Ryuichi’s Last Playlist.
We would like to share the playlist that Ryuichi had been privately compiling to be played at his own funeral to accompany his passing. He truly was with music until the very end.'
- Beeswax0
Am I going crazy or Spotify is?
First so many silly songs appeared in my liked list.
I thought maybe my son was adding those but recently Miley Cyrus songs started to appear when he wasn't around my devices. Then cryptic playlists started coming.
Playlists named "mention", "efficiency", "chance", "RapCaviar"So either I did something wrong or my spotify account got hacked or their code is breaking down.
- Same here... maybe it has something to do with sponsored content, from time to time songs or records appear that have NOTHING to do with my tastesOBBTKN
- Either that, or my wife linked Alexa to my Spotify account... so f****d meOBBTKN
- I hate that Latin shit all the time, on the radio, in the supermarket, at the dentist, in bars... Tsar bomb in Miami, please!OBBTKN
- horrible. I cant accept songs injected into my Liked list.Beeswax
- This looks like you got hacked. It happened to me. Check your Recently played list, and your current subscription on your account.Continuity

I just grabbed a bunch of 80s & 90s movies which I haven't seen in years, and most of which my missus has never seen at all. Out of the list below, which ones do you think have aged best, aged worst, and absolutely are not worth anybody's time?
- Highlander i & ii
- DarkMan
- Dark City
- Judge Dredd (Stallone version)
- Mad Max i, ii, iii
- Mosquito Coast
- Spies Like Us
- Carlito's Way
- Donnie Brasco
- Heartbreak Ridge
- The Wraith
- The Postman
- Waterworld
- Armageddon
- Cop Land
- Stand By Me
- The Burbs
- The Goonies
- The Jackal
- The Untouchables
- True Lies- The last 4 are still solid. + Dark City, Cop Land, Heartbreak Ridge, Donnie Brasco, Carlito's Way. You're in Aus yeah? Mad Max for sure. Waterworld... no!MrT
- Highlander I rewatched recently and it was good for the memories but oof a bit dated. They're remaking it I thinks.MrT
- Waterworld = YES!!Ianbolton
- @MrT: Yeah, the rumour is with Henry Cavill. Which, actually, might not be all that bad a choice.Continuity
- (re: Highlander)Continuity
- I wouldn't watch The Postman, Untouchables again.bezoar
- Wasn't the Postman utterly terrible, and about three hours too long, first time around? I just remember the godawful line "Because I'm the postman" or sum'tNairn
- haha that's 4 people now who've told me to not waste my time with The Postman, I think I'll get rid of that one.BuddhaHat
- I like Dark City, it's a weird movie, but the style of it is cool. Was massively influential too. Think the effects look not so good now though?PhanLo
- Never saw The Postman till a couple of years ago, actually enjoyed it a lot, partly for the great supporting cast, all 20 years younger than you remember them.webazoot
- The Burbs, Dredd, Mad Max I. And Carlito's Way if you're into comedy. The pool room scene oozes unintentional comedy.garbage
- But the Burbs is a fucking classic. If you haven't seen it, do so.garbage
- Mosquito, Donnie, Copland, Stand,HijoDMaite
- https://www.youtube.…garbage
- Re-watched Dark City recently. It was better than I remembered. Dredd is still good, except that he takes off his helmet.skinny_puppy
- Stand by Me, goonies, Mad Max 1_niko
- Dark City for sure, and the effects hold up better than most films of that time. Also the Director's Cut version is best.evilpeacock
- Waterworld is dopeSlashPeckham
- Watch the Goonies, then watch Everything Everywhere All At Once and see Ke Huy Quan win an Oscar.shellie
- When I was a kid there was a miserable bowling alley, and all I wanted to do was hit the arcade room.garbage
- They had a Waterworld pinball machine that they left on free because nobody wanted to play it.garbage
- Better Off Dead, The Day After & Threads, drop Armageddon for Deep Impact.5timuli
- I let Waterwrold playout if it comes on. Vanessa Angel in Spies Like Us amirite?! :-)Squiddy
- Damn I thought Waterworld dislike was universal, I stand corrected! bezoar - The Untouchables, why ever not?? Aside from Bond's dodgy accent...MrT
- Darkman was terrible!pango
- Watch both Armageddon and Deep Impact, and another plus one on Waterworld here. It's sorta quite shit, but also really cool. you know? *sucks popsicle stupidlyNairn
- I’ll have to give WW another go then... but No Way Out is probably my favourite Kevin Costner vehicle.MrT
- WW is not a good movie. but fun to watchpango

I just got back from an asado with ex-members of a metalcore band that had a brief stint on the Uruguayan scene around 2007. We did pretty well.
Many memories and anecdotes of the then young metalheads; good meat, and a lot of Fernet.
Good night!

Dear blog:
Our eldest daughter is doing an internship in a hospital, she has competitive exams this summer, she still has time.
The second daughter, has just turned 18, and she has university entrance exams soon, most likely, from autumn, during the week she goes to study in a nearby city, her plan... to study biology.
These have been quite busy years, and what remains... Tomorrow is my birthday, despite the fatigue, I will try to celebrate as it deserves (I assure you that there will be bbq and wine).
Good weekend, locos <3

I was just out in Vegas for a work thing and I was eating lunch with my co-workers when the singer from Korn comes and sits at the table next to us. It was funny to see this metal dude and his wife, she on her phone the whole time, him looking bored and me inhaling the best damn turkey burger I've ever had! We kept asking the waitress if they had any corn chowder.

Ok, it's hard to celebrate better... Argentinian parrillas at a "km 0 meat congress" with my wife in the morning, lunch with her and daugthers, and in the afternoon; snack with my wife and friends until the wee hours of the morning. a perfect plan...
But this hangover, it's going to last the whole week and it's not going to be fun :(
- I dunno, man. That hangover sounds bought, paid for, and earned. Just think of the memories of great times hidden beneath the brain fog!Continuity
