If you were born in 1965 you would turn 59 this year.

Very slow weeks, work-wise, everyone is on vacation for holy week and easter now (6 projects stopped right now)... but also elections time, regional and EU that paralyze everything...
Except for the money issue, everything is going well, but there is always THAT black cloud that doesn't let us live in peace.

This is the first Easter.. possibly ever.. that I've recognised the exstence of somewhat in advance. Usually it comes up as a dark surprise to fuck my schedule and expectations.Because the kid's in school, I am now acutely aware of upcoming holidays and such, however this year it would appear that roles are reversed and it's my clients who've been blind-sided by Easter's unexpected appearance. Oy vey.

I finished another feature script this morning before work. I have one more script thats on page 45 with 45 pages left to go and I can’t wait to jump back into it. Both of these scripts I started in mid January.
Then I’ll have 4 low budget feature scripts completed (2x for >300k and 2x for >200k production budgets )that I can package for 1M and shoot consecutively with the same crew, shared resources, and some if the same cast. I have some decent cast attached so far and a financier that’s interested but I gotta close the deal.
I’m just so excited to keep pushing.

ChatGPT continues to satisfy when it comes to easy-to-implement HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Working on some prototypes for some work I'm hoping to land, needed some simple counters to count up from a starting number to another number, use ease-out and an editable timing to slow down as it reaches that number, needed it to be triggered with an event listener so it starts when it's visible in the viewport, and needed the ability to place a $ symbol before monetary numbers, or a % symbol after percentages.
Had the code in less than a minute, dropped it into place, and bang, worked like a charm.
Any of you using it for this reason or doing anything far more complex as far as code goes?
- Love it! Did you see that video where they input a pic of a whiteboard flowchart and it spit out a working a prototype? So coolnb
- @nb that is fake.sted
- it really is great for writing functions that i know I will spend 4 times as long debugging if i wrote it myself.BabySnakes
- Keep feeding it. It will feed your replacements. Half-coding is leading to full-coding, and human irrelevance. This has been projected for about a decade.garbage
- feeding it? it reads all the code examples and docs already online.BabySnakes
- i think this type of query is only useful for QC. do a search on some random lines from that code you will probably find a stackoverflow comment or a git reposted
- @snakes Not that simple. Any ML or GANs system requires successful input that results in passable output.garbage
- It's in the name. You feed it more input, and eventual result is the replacement of the creator. "Generative Adversarial Network".garbage
- Those engines are training engines we haven't even heard about, and they will be beyond Adobe-level subscription levels.garbage
- This conversation started a decade ago, and you'd have sounded insane about suggesting UBI, but it should have been where you put your votes.garbage
- I don't care how good you are at what you do, you will be replaced in the near future by something that can do your day's work better and faster.garbage
- TL:DR - AI isn't neat nor new.garbage
- lol @ "it's in the name." GPT = generative pre-trained transformers. Not a GAN.kingsteven
- I do all my coding in Cursor now which is a fork of VS code with GPT built in. It is shit but saves me a lot of googling. Can't even imagine the current gen AIkingsteven
- is a threat to anyone, it just saves time organising and copy/pasting (which is not coding!)kingsteven
- great for SQL, boilerplating and small apps for data conversion etc + and great for learning new things - it's just google with less steps.kingsteven
- I don't know where you took a wrong turn, but I never said GTP was a GAN.garbage
- The positive feedbacks are 100% feeding privatized GANs engines, and if you didn't know this years ago you're behind the game.garbage
- Anyone using Sensei on CC has been training their replacements for about a decade. This isn't conspiratorial, it's happening.garbage

- in NJ near a quarry, normal blast is 2-3 secs of rumbling/house shaking, once this went on for 5+ secs I realized - holy s earthquaketimeless

- @what, I grew up in California. I knew about this and had many experiences with earthquakes many times before I was in 4th grade.monospaced
- From my experience of actual real earthquakes, this was a tiny little baby one, about as mild as it gets.monospaced
- As someone who's never experienced an earthquake, I imagine even a tiddler would rock my world. So to speak.Nairn

- You don't really notice a 4 or so. They just happen. Seattle has its own vault lines, but also a big sleeping beast out west under the water.garbage
- The Cascadia subduction zone. When that slips, everything here will be fucked. They estimate it pulled a 9.0 a few hundred years ago.garbage

- When that thing goes off again, it will be felt in Asia. It is unclear if any seismic activity will trigger Rainier, which is "decade volcano".garbage
- Meaning it's considered one a handful of "that heap of rock is going to fuck everyone up", considered deadliest stateside if it goes off.garbage
- @mono it was the calm down part of the comment, for those closer to epicenter of 4.8 it felt wild, for you to dismiss that is curious for someone 100 miles awaywhatthefunk
- 50 miles, and I’ve been at the center of much larger ones. Jesus Christ. Calm down!monospaced
- It was not “wild.” It was mild. It caused no damage or injury. I guess if you never felt one before you might have that reaction.monospaced
- So, that was my first earthquake Mono, am I allowed to refer to it as having been wild or is there another California approved adjective I should consider?!?whatthefunk
