At this moment, I've never felt so humble in my life. Please understand that, as much as I love computers, we are the last generation to remember what it was like without them affecting our lives. I beg of everyone to preserve it.

double-sense not intended.

I'm not impatient, the reason I feel like I need to justify this is because I feel like I am watching people who I care about lose their minds in front of me. Like they are writing their own obituary.

(Jul 31 07, 04:54)i know what you mean. i have learned a lot in therapy about not chasing shorthand impulses and all that, it's very fundamental. well said. yet, the power of influence you have on your environment is limited, if people want to go with the lemmings, it's their choice, and, instead, they will call you crazy.
life is full of solitude in that respect. you need to take care of your own, and cherish the moments of intimacy or reflection with people. they do not last forever.
and do not call people miserable, everyone has it's own path and pace of learning in life.

The thing is, is that they are miserable, I'm not throwing that out there as a derogatory statement. There would be no need for war, suffering, economy, capitalism, anything that detours you from existing if everyone was at peace of mind.

(Jul 31 07, 05:28)sorry, easily to misunderstand that point. there you have it, internet communication.
i agree with you wholeheartedly in that sense. but humans are humans, and we need to make the best of it as it is.

Do you feel enlightened with our conversation dutchie? Because I feel like I am partially breaking through with you, but you still don't totally grasp what I am talking about. Like saying making the best of it? That doesn't make any sense. Why not strive for the ultimate instead of settling?

don't hate me, but I don't get the Opus and 4 chicks part

I don't hate you. read this from neue:
"than maybe you should practice what you preach, you treat people like shit when you don't feel they're on the same level as you... whatever faux-academic level you think that is...
eventually it just leads to your further isolation, which leads you to sit in the woods by yourself yelling louder but still not saying anything much more than the same idealistic preamble that was just as ineffective 30 years ago...
if you want people to listen or even care, you can't condemn them, rather you need to pander to our meager little brains and educate us with a caring hand... being a thinker is great, but to be a visionary or a leader, you should try and get us on your side first... In essence, I'm already there and always have been, I'd just like to see you consider the reality of your audience and maximise your reach beyond the small sector of people that are already beside you nodding their heads and puffing their pipes, comforted by the fact that at least, they have each other...

(Jul 31 07, 02:11)"There's a fleet of meatheads that think all I do is sit behind this thing, when really most of the time I am just enjoying life and interacting with people around me. That's just what I did last night, drink opus, that simple.

Jesse, I get you. I have seen many examples of people in the past that strive for the ultimate in regard to making a change for society. some did well, such as Martin Luther King, others, if not most, did less well. Yet, did we loose racism at all? Do we all strife for a sober and enlightened lifestyle since Ghandi? People forget real soon, Jesse. It's very hard to force change your environment to make you happier. Instead, you'd do well making the best of your own life and live at peace.
Other then that, if you really intend to follow the route of those who tried changing society or though processes, i wish you luck. And this is not ironic.
Perhaps I have embraced some hard facts about reality a little too much recently. It's not always nice to become that grow-up you used to dislike when younger. But having been through a lot of situations and perspectives, as you gradually become older, you will understand your parents and teachers better.

or at least your part of it.
the thing is, people will have their own way.
who said this "the world runs on opinions"?
it's all relative. it comes down making the best of it for yourself, and if you don't fele comfortable with the people surrounding you, be it online or offline, you need to make a decision for yourself.
what's best for you.goodluck.
