I'm wondering if there is a simple way to make an HTML link control a flash movie, so that it goes to a certain label in the movie....any help?

Yes it can be done but you've got to ask yourself do you realy want to.

You could pass a variable to your flash movie in your embed tag i.e. flash.swf?var=true

lol..you may really want to check out flashVars..that's if you want.
Which, if you really want it, allow you to write varibles that flash read, into the object and embed tags. that variable may set where you go in the timeline.
Macromedia has a technote on this or it's in the AS dictionary...if you really want to look at it.

you can use javascript to go to a label:
movie.TGotoLabel("/MovieClip", "Label1");
for a frame:
movie.GotoFrame(3);

Yes, and YUCK. I've done it, it's buggy, and not 100% cross browser compatible...

It was possible with liveConnect parameter enabled under object tag in html..this would allow you to communicate and command movie playback in your flash movie from JS. However this never actually saw any major purpose because it was made to work only on PCs and IE. Then they came out with better object tag parameter integration and localConnection that allows you to communicate with 2 separate swf files in the same page, completely avoiding HTML completely. Also, there's flash remoting, but since you asked this I don't know if you would be experienced enough to deal with that.

I figured it would prolly be a pain in the ass....It's not that I really WANT to do this, but half of my page will be in flash, while the top will be in html.....All is fine except for one link which must stay at the top the entire time, in HTML....Thanks for the suggestions though
