i commute on a onespeed w/ a freewheel hub, built up on a crappy univega frame i pulled from the trash. all you need are decent wheels.
i went freewheel cuz the ride to work is uphill meaning the ride home is down and coasting home latenight after work is fun.

it's a tough guy thing

no brakes and no gear LOOKS cool but IS NOT.
prepare for multiple crashes if you're going to ride the Courierâ„¢ style in downtown cities. pedestrians won't love you. neither the female ones.
but ok, they LOOK cool.
ooooow:i'm NOT looking cool since i have ride with these:
1. Magura HS33 brakes
2. Shimano XTR gear
3. Magura air front-suspension
- MLPROJECT0
that's the challenge of it... if you know how to ride it, its not as dangerous. if i was in a crowded city, i'd probably throw on a front brake to avoid the door
- tny0
they look cool and it's no/low maintenence, esp. in the winter, but it is a little (lot) crazy...
*nosewheelies

i'm a fan of the backwards 360s and the BMX stop stolen from RAD

i gotta get on the freewheel bandwagon...the road bike just ain't doing it no more for me.
never use but the highest gear anyways.

pocho.. you interested in selling any of those bikes.??? send me a email if you are.. I would love to talk to you about it..
currently building a single speed not a fixie.. mountain fixie.. just picked up a new Yeti AS-3 at performance for 175 bucks!! it was sitting in the clearance.. so I am builiding a full suspension single speed.. fruity.. yes.. should be fun though..
I have such a bike addiction lately.. very into vintage road bikes lately.. 70's and earlier..14 bikes in the last year!!!

the never ending track stand...

true true.
i used to ride the Courierâ„¢ style in this city, till the moment i came across another one riding the same style when i was on legs in stead of wheels.
he scared the hell out of me with his manouvers (indeed: the nosewheely that i used to bring in practice too).since that day i am the pedestrians best friend and only make dangerous moves offroad, far away from the civilized world.

wise words from stewart
i still have messenger pals, and i fear for them. it's wacky out there..

the boston guys tend to be of the tats n' skin variety...but there's alot of very normal people out there
*lotta freaks too

The fellas in denver are HIP.. and punk.. the bikes seem to be almost more of punk rock fashion accesory around here.. along with the chain wallets and tats.. chain smoking helps too..

the only sects i've seen it catch on as a status symbol have been 'i don't bathe, but i'm rich' crust punks and hipster kids in dunks
