Why skateboards? It's a different canvas with different values. Haircare products...mmm Build healthy hair with care™ Thanks donal.

Yeah, sure, add more value to them, but at the same time, new designs would have made it seem as though he considered this new canvas enough to develop a work that would make sweet love to it.

i buy a deck based on shape and weight, as the graphics are destroyed after about a days use. i'd rather have interesting tshirt graphics as it's easier to stare at my chest than the bottom of my deck while i'm skating.

Then why buy a deck with graphics on?

Because he (or she) likes the shape and weight, therefore I imagine he doesn’t consider the graphics to be important.

So not a good idea then? Do people really care, probably not.

it's actually quite odd, a lot of effort is put into skateboard graphics, it even fills up books, generates expositions etc. yet on the other side it's very destructive, the average skater won't take too long to get the graphics damaged. but i think that's the goal as well, to destroy it asap, at least the bottom, because i can imagine one is seen as a toy if one skates with a perfect deck. anyways, it's quite odd anyways, it's like painting something and then set fire to it.
i agree with some other people here, i think designers will be more interested in bying it than actually skaters. most skaters don't know who you are or for instance ps is.

its only a good idea for design types that probably dont skate. As a skater I couldn't really give a shit about having some designers shit on it (no offence, nothing presonal), I may pay for a board to have as decor if it was by someone relevant like say mark gonzales or ed templeton (do you know anything about these people or the skate scene) but not just some graphic designer... unless it was REALLY good.

VC Johnson is the man, if you can do anything like VCJ from back in the day then you could be worthy, if not, go home.

thats off 'alien' or some film like that no?... isn't it the work of a japanese artist?
- mitsu0
dunno, rasko.
Regarding the Build decks, Michael, I think your designs would be appreciated more throughout the design community than the skate community. Granted, I'm speaking from a late 20's demographik, but most of the skaters I know care more about the deck than the graphics. But, I could definately see your work on a snowboard - though it is a bit cliche to design for snowboards these days, so there's that to take into account as well.
That said, please let me know when the decks are available for purchase! ;)

Q: What's the best way to hang/fix decks to the wall?

I don't know if there is such a thing as the 'usual' skate design. The graphics are generally very creative and vary greatly. A print collector would enjoy it but a real skater would ruin the graphics in a couple days anyway.

I Think is would be cool to see these decks, but even cooler to see ibuild could swing a deal with a current skate company.
Like what Mike Leon did, approached Element and got to do a board series. Let this movie if you havent seen it be an inspiration :)

Q: What's the best way to hang/fix decks to the wall?
A: you have 8 holes in a deck, just pick one.

"A print collector would enjoy it ..."
i'm not sure though. the medium it self is so loaded i don't think collectors with no affinity to skating would be interested. if it would be just plain wood they could be but a skateboard, dunno, i for one wouldn't buy one and hang one up coz i think it's a bit childish since i have nothing to do with skateboarding anymore.
