son, I saw interviews where he was talking and the guy is quite possibly the most arrogant person I have ever seen.

The new album is shit. Can't remember a single song from it besides Diamonds and Diamonds Remix.
Little Brothers "The Minstrel Show" is gonna blow Kanye out of the water:

"Little Brothers "The Minstrel Show" is gonna blow Kanye out of the water"
wanna bet?
- fate_0
Yup, $20 down on it. "The Minstrel Show" is already being called a classic by critics. One of "The Source" editors quit after the album wasn't given 4.5 mics.

kanye will outsell little brother like nobody's business.
i'm not talking about the quality of the music here.
- fate_0
I am. If you want to talk about record sales, let's start praising Mush Mouf a.k.a. Fiddy Cent.

nevermind

90% of you shouldnt even comment on hip hop, nevermind kanye being that you've never heard dope albums like
saafir- boxcar sessions
diamond d-stunt blunts and hip hop
cypress hill -self titled
main source-breaking atoms
above the law-livin like hustlers
d.o.c. -no body does it better
kurious-constipated monkeybut seriously almost every post on this godamn site on hip hop is so lame. yes hip hop has many annoying cliches, but here's a newsflash for you emo loving hippies. i can predict 99.5% of what the videos look like of your favorite groups.
there's some hipster crying into a microphone, leaning on his wrist. at least one band member has a ramones, van halen, or some other band people would have made fun of before grunge got big and it was ironic to wear those shirts...or they're wearing a blazer
next shot there's a girl with mascara running down her face in panties looking into the mirror as the sink is dirty, sometimes filled with blood. she kinda hates herself.
the bass player looks like andy warhol. the vocalist tries to sound like morrisey or the talking heads. but their lyrics are emotional and therefore real. now i love all forms of music, from my mod shit, my early reggae tunes to jazz to johnny cash, to whatever. but i find it hilarious how these people that despise hip hop for its cliches, suck on their favorite groups like they're not a copy of rock in the past.
about kanye. yeah he's an ass. yeah his stuff sucks. next.

holy shit alien. Things I have thought, but never had the concious thought to say.
I don't agree with all the albums on your short sample list, but big ups for the mention of DOC and Above the Law. But we all have our opinions.

sup point and dobs, although i've visted this site a lot lest, i remember you dudes, along with snuggles and some dude with a g in his name for having great open minds, and hooking up people with really nice hip hop tunes showing them the light, keep on keeping on.
where've i been dobs? on a sabattical to mars and sheit, like an LSD trip that wouldn't end....been trying to innovate a new style of visuals...and i wanted to do it sober, but make it look like you're on an acid trip while you look at it and a sort of play on dali and warhol if they had a baby together...
so i take pop culture figures, turn them around and see if i can see a pattern in their mouth nose, philtrum area...so i made fat joe into picachu
(i think he could rap it would sound like pappa da rappa)
ravi shankar, who's an alien indian fo sho, plus jabba the hut:
and frank zappa cause he's my idol, plus mumra from the thundercatsi'm like two points away from schitophrenia, hence the freak out in a kanye west thread of all things haha. peace.

son, i thought it was apporpiate to post those, cause a lot of these people usually defend themselves by saying "hip hop died with public enemy/run dmc"...but haven't given anything else a chance. i myself dig me some of the madlib stuff (but i loved his bombshelter ish the most cause im a reggae bum)...didnt feel the new quas too much... like me some of the doom, loved the edan sheit (that was this year i think?)...that new little brother album with buckshot was dissappointing as hell, but these days im researching older forms of tuneage, really into funkadelic right now, and just like me some soul. but im not on the point of just saying "hip hop sucks period" tip. i'l even be honest some of the new tracks on the kanye are not too bad (squirrel tracks aside)
- mrdobolina0
that stuff is interesting, nice seeing ya mang.
- mrdobolina0
make any tracks lately? you were working on some things last time I talked to you.
- son0
i thought we stopped naming whats good in like 99, on the real
good is too suttle
what are you doing if you good
like folks you named, they do they thing, and some do moreso then others
but thats irrelevant
i was impressed w/ coflow 's transformation to def jux
and seeing things from that stage
and i loved freestyle fellowship for what they gave the game
rappers add to the game at the most suttle level
but when they innovate it brings about somethin else
some just add, some innovate
thats the way i'm going
i'll have a new song everyday so move from there
- aliendn0
yeah, i was actually gonna do my own cover of the madlib album, but i realized that i had a lot more to learn about music structure and theory and i didnt want to do sheit half assed, so i started reading up and learning music theory, gots to get more proficient in playing the keys and guitar...and learning how to play my drum machine as a live instrument (i.e. not preprogramming the keys, but hitting the pads in real time, to give it a human quality without sounding too mechanical). do you spin man? any impressions on cdjs? i'm probably picking up the numark CDx
what a phucking beast of a machine, it feels like vinyl its unreal, its an instrument on its own, but i need two of them so i gotta save up...possibilities are endless, u can mix mp3s but my primary focus is to record my own shit and then sample it. you've heard edan's album right? i love how he sampled 60s psycadelic rock music and made it fit so well. my hip hop idol is prince paul, that's why im onto the music theory tip, cause his music is so much on the happy tip, major chords kind of stuff. did you hear his instrumental album "itstrumental"? dude's a phucking genius. if anyone else besides dob is reading this, pickup "itstrumental" by prince paul, for an example of some modern sheit that only prince paul can sound like.
