big elevator that could be built in 5 years and at a fraction of the 100 billion NASA is planing to spend ober the next 15 to get to the moon.

hmmm. how would that would work. as a free standing structure and all.

The Jesus freeks would never allow them to build the tower of Babylon.

NASA need to get to the moon cause the first time was a hoax.

read about this a little ways back;
very inspiring, and honestly reaffirms my respect for the human race, to conceive, and if given the chance, to actually build this crazy fucking thing.

canuck, they got a good explanation at wikipedia

cheaper, yes, but all that money going into it doesn't account for the engineers it needs to send people to Mars AND this mission of the SE. I agree, it's cheaper, but money can't buy you the best minds all at once. I've been told (by a no-know it all professor in one of my engineering classes) that we can't do both, pay for the smartest people in the country to tackle two giant problems. I pick Mars over replacing the shuttle with slightly unproven ideas.

Yes, i want to see the human race get to mars also, but don't we first have to get to the moon, again? With the elevator, it would be much easier to set up a colony on the moon, which in turn would make it easier to get to mars? Once the elevator is there, its going to save a lot of time and money, as opposed to flying astronaughts to the moon 4 at a time.
