So I guess Im a little late in discovering one of the best games ever for PS2. "ICO" I found it buried in my cousin's garage over the holidays. We played it for 4 days straight, and I fell in love with it. I already ordered Shadow of the Colossus. So, what are some other fantasy type games with awesome environments? What else am I missing?

check out RE4 for some beautiful yet creepy environments. Also, the series of Kingsfield had some very nice music and ambience that accompanied a vast world of exploration. The graphics span over the ps1 onto the 2. So they get better and better. KF4 was the last one, for PS2.

Fuck God of War. I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Check out Rygar for some real Roman/Greek ass-kicking. It's got that Japanese elegance in design.
Shadow of the Collosus is an excellent next choice after playing ICO. You'll love the ending.
Agreed @ RE4.

The Devil May Cry series has amazing maps. It's action though. Very similar to God of War mentioned above.

What's so good about ICO? I bought it a while back for $10 and played it for about an hour. Seemed pretty boring, running around a castle with same monsters and repeated wall textures everywhere.
Prince of Persia for PS2 has similar graphics style as ICO.
Resident Evil 4 is an amazing action adventure game for PS2, although I heard the Gamecube version has better textures/lighting. I completed it last week and unlocked a Mercenaries mode which is crazy fun. It puts you up against a horde of enemies with limited time and weapons to kill as many as you can.
God of War also looks great, awesome special effects and some great weapon moves. But it's a button-masher and some "puzzles" are hard and annoying. Why do some game developers think that trying to find well-hidden doors in order to proceed is fun?
Shadow of Rome is one of my favorite games for PS2. It's a gladiator game that has a very fun fighting system, lots of weapons, very cool enemies and environments.

I just finished playing through the original Devil May Cry, definitely suggest it.
Anyone remember that absolutely fucking NUTS part of the game where the sky turns into a twirling animated abstract expressionism painting? It's just insane.

Get the Tales series (Tales of Eternia, Fantasia, Destiny etc) if you can lay your hands on them.

BEST PS 2 GAMES
GOD OF WAR: Why there arent teaser sequal screens being shown for PS3 and a modified PSP version out yet I have no clue. It is the best original non-sequal game for PS2. Most likely the best game on PS2 period.
Devil May Cry 1 and 3 rock. Stay away from DMC 2, it is poo poo platter.
Metal Gear Solid 3. Not a fantasy game, but it is the best story I've ever been told. Yep I said it. BEST STORY I'VE EVER BEEN TOLD. That includes movies. You get to the end of that game and your jaw drops and your brain hurts from how insanely brilliant it is. It's like combining the end of Empire Strikes Back and the Usual Suspects and then telling the whole story Pulp Fiction Style. The impact is only this great if you played the other Metal Gears tho.
Im guessing Resident Evil 4 is great on PS2. I have it for Game Cube and it was certainly one of this years best. the graphics are amazing.
Rygar is dope too. I liked the old school nes version best tho. that one was a classic.
