Uniformitarianism is an assumption about geological processes according to which past geological processes are essentially of the same nature as present ones. It is in contrast to catastrophism. Uniformitarianism was devised by geologists James Hutton and Charles Lyell.
so maybe JamesHutton or CharlesLyell?
catchy ehh? ok maybe not

100% agree. I did a little search on our friend. The only thing I have seen him do is post in various forums and lists surrounding what he has posted here - pretty much solely. I'm not fully grasping the point. Spreading the word of god?.....
I have said previously - people's beliefs are people's beliefs, and I'll respect that, but I agree with mrdob. I certainly do not know everything, or really even a small sliver of information about anything in this world. NOBODY DOES!? I don't understand how you can preach consistently in multiple forums about the same things over and over again and be able to justify every single small detail regardless of its obvious flaws without considering anything else. Does this not seem completely uninformed??
And then hide behind the veil of a computer screen and dodge every personal question that might give people a better look into who you ACTUALLY are. If it's the essence of your being to devote an extremely significant portion of each day to seek out random forums throughout the internet to spread your word..... it gives me a very strange feeling in my gut.
Like.......who are you?

cphunk, am I preaching? Or am I directly countering specific issues regarding Darwinism.
It's called debate.
Who cares who i am.
- shilohous0
there's no point in debating you
anything contrary to your beliefs is 'falsified'where as you have no facts backing up your claims, just a trendy theory and played rhetoric
you are entertaining tho
- Mimio0
Discipler, you've been equating Darwinism to a religion for months.
- discipler0
The bottom line is that people have caricatures about people of faith and anytime they share a differing viewpoint, they become zealots who are "pushing" their views on others.
claptrap.
- discipler0
shilohous, you have it backwards. It seems that I'm one of only about 2 people who are actually providing data to back up my position. Or do you not read the postings?
- shilohous0
pointing us to websites
yep, im sold
- discipler0
Depends on how you define "Darwinism", mimio. To me, it's philosophy masquerading as science. And many of it's advocates are very religious Atheists.
- discipler0
now now, i've given very specific data.

Look, as the months have worn on I am now entirely convinced that Discipler - and maybe PonyBoy and Yars Revenge - are on some kinda of Payroll for some faith base initiative funded by the White House. It's the only thing that explains this - and they're as hamfisted as Scott McCllellan with this stuff. I mean we know the Bush administration has paid people to create fake news stories...I mean why not pay someone to infiltrate all us "liberal" and most likely gay and gay friendly liberal artist types...and try to get us to see the "faith"
So, Discipler - I want a cut of the cash or I'm going to out you to the media...
- ********0
actually discipler, you wouldn't want to be called something that is associated with Uniformitarianism. Catastrophism is more you're cup of tea I would assume...?

+50 for JazX today..
This is the first time Ive ever seen the Huttons Law Of Uniformitarianism mentioned on a design forum.
Splendid.JazX IS Uniformitarianism Sans Extended Bold Oblique

It certainly does matter. I find it quite concerning the threads you jump on on the internet. It reminds me of the people walking down the street recruiting the extremely impoverished to join the military - or to see the "light". What is your point here exactly? What is your purpose. You seem to obviously have one in your mind. You don't come here because you find design exciting as you've stated previously. You come here for other reasons. Who you are does matter I feel. You know a significant amount of information, with an obviously extremely extensive bookmarking system on your computer. Who are you?
