is this a piss take on something?
I mean I just looked at that first page and can't say I was inspired to figure out what I was looking at....

(Jun 30 06, 06:35)Reasons? I'm curious.
Not to blame-shift, but this is a project that was started before my time, I've only been watching my colleagues as they've been working on the site. It falls to me to post it for review since I'm the only NT regular in our office...so don't felel shy.

i think someone left out the bit that explains what the fuck the site is, does, etc.. that landing page communicates absolutely nothing to me.

the survey? on the front that you can't close made me close the whole thing.

It was just launched yesterday, there are already some functionality problems (found out just now that it won't let me create a profile, which is kind of a big deal)...

that site kind of scurs me.

I'm just the messenger. I do not condone glowing type, personally.

honestly, from a UX standpoint it's not well implemented.
the form fields are hard as fuck to find and break the norm of what people will be expecting and looking for. it took me a couple seconds to find the fild to type in as "First Name" at first looked like it could be selected and typed over, it can't. so then i had to guess and test as to where the form field was.
then, instead of searching for every box i hit the tab button and it shot me down to the company form, not the Last Name field as I was expecting.
if anything i'd turn that black background into the dark gray you have in the back, and turn the form fields black to help in functionality.
then, there is nothing driving me to fill in these boxes. why?
maybe explain 'the true you' and somewhat push the users to spend the time in filling out the information. or maybe tempt them with what the outcome might be, not just make us guess.
anyways, it's a good start... just needs a bit of refining.

well, lose the dreadful outer glow on things, make those rollover images a solid colour, like one from the nav bar. Ditch those buttons on the side, make ones that actually go with the rest of the site. lose the ticker-tape banner, if that info needs to be presented, use a more unique technique....
the nav bar at the bottom, seems a bit lost..
maybe use a different background colour, like something not black...
Overall, I think if you change everything, it'll most likely get better :)

(Jun 30 06, 06:45)Heh. Yeah. I won't disagree. I'll pass along the comments to the people that designed the site.
cheers

pass this info to your designer(s).
ask them if the site answers these 4 basic questions from a user standpoint when they first come ot the site.
what is this?
what do they have here?
what can i do here?
why should i be here - and not somewhere else?(the site doesn't)
- gramme0
(the site doesn't)

(Jun 30 06, 07:04)I agree. completely.

they're asking for a lot of information just to read some articles and stuff

I think these responses will be an eye-opener for those involved in this project.
