I'm heading to Maui with my 4year old son for a week. I've been to Maui about 5 times but mostly while I was young and not the one planning an itinerary.
I've usually stayed near Kaanapali or Nipili. This time, I'll be styaing near Paia on the North Shore. Any suggestions on activities, food, etc. are more than welcome. I'll have a car. Thanks!

N.Shore Maui... rent a windsurf rig a call it a trip :)
and of course, do the road to Hana. Stop by Ho'okipa on the way.

my wife and i were in kaanapali in september and spent most of our time there and lahaina. never made it to the north side of the island. have a lot of fun there though. it's such an amazing place.
if it were me i'd look into some easy trail bike rides and take him to the volcano. he'll probably love it. don't waste your time with the hidden pools trip, it's boring and crowded. hidden my ass.
have fun. be safe.

I'd love to go windsurfing, but it will be just me and my 4year old son traveling. He can't swim and I can't let him out of my sight.

(Nov 8 06, 12:52)damn you must have some keen sailing skills.. i used to go quite a bit but never really ventured out into surf.
arthur. you are going to be on the nshore during the primo event of the year. definitely a must see.

i guess your only option then is to go to the beach and try to pick up bride's maids using your son's charms

Your kid is going to get so laid.

I moved to maui after wave sailing on the california coast for a few years. Was into big wave riding more than competing but decided to do that contest for fun and, well, it was the first and last one.
good times though.

Unfortunately, I won't be doing any water sports because I've got my little one with me. I love snorkelling more than the average Joe but it's not gonna happen.
Any more eats to recommend? I might spring for a helicopter trip around the island, my son would go crazy.

My wife will be surfing in Costa Rica at the time, so I have to take a little trip too, it's only fair.
