I do both. Design and then build. Which is handy as I am currently working remotely.

I do both, so I'm the one who gets wound up when designers just say do this do that without understanding the implications... can be annoying, bless 'em! :D

In Larger agencies, the positions are defined : designer, or developer. Which has it's positive and negative aspects. But in most studios, or smaller agencies, a designer is still expected to front end code. I'd sooner have it that way personally.

I do both.
I guess you have to decide at some point if you want to work in a big place......
i think there should be a position for people that can do both too.
maybe if you have a strong graphics portfolio, you could go for a designer post and put your dev. skills as an extra

I do both to varying levels of success...
I can’t stand not knowing how to do something really, and don’t like relying on someone else, or having to rely on someone else I guess.
