If you have a limited budget you'll get more bang for your buck with a PC.

Buy a pc if you have limited funds like moth said, if you are richer than barry white get a mac.
I am forever getting let down by the macs that I have bought for my work and for my home, the first mac I ever bought has been fine (an old imac DV) I gave this to my folks and have updated it as much as possible.Don't be seduced by the fact that they are pretty cool machines, it's a real basic equation " I have moey to burn I'll buy a mac" or "I haynae got enough money to pay attention I'll buy a pc" :D

When it comes to laptops, they're cheaper than sony and not more expensive than dell if you compare feature-for-feature. I just built a dell inspiron in the online store and it cost just about the same as macbook pro - mind you inspiron is dell's low-end ugly and bulky line, it's like specing up a kia to match a bmw. If you do webdesign, checking in mac browsers is a necessity. Macbooks are (afaik) thinnest on the market, which adds to portablility and I have never seen a laptop other than mac with a DVI out.
Unless you are looking for el cheapo laptop, macbook is a no-brainer.
I wouldn't buy it if it couldn't run Windows though.

Wait till 10.5 is released
Black one shows ALL the finger prints and marks so well. Be prepared to be constantly polishing it

Wait until the end of the week – it's Apple's WWDC. Might not announce any new hardward (they've just updated the laptops), but any new software and other 'stuff' might influence your decision.

(Jun 11 07, 00:42)I'm waiting 1.5 - 2 weeks before my purchase.

(Jun 11 07, 02:39)I kind of agree with this. I've been researching for a few weeks now, and the features of the macbook pretty much match with the features of a PC laptop, and they're both around the same price.
I want something with a lot more portability as well as longer battery life, so I think a macbook would suit me well.
I realize that the laptop will probably get dirty quickly, but I'm pretty good with keeping things clean. Otherwise I'll just buy the custom keyboard / screen covers you can find.
I may also run Windows on it, depending on how I like the programs once I get a laptop.

Sounds like a good idea, especially if you want to spend 75% of your life maintaining it, 15% so you can look cool while surfing the internet and telling everyone how awesome it is. and 10% bitchin about how much you hate Microsoft. What's not attractive about that?

(Jun 10 07, 08:51)just plain bullshit.
c'mon, this is no place for a platform flame, but you really want to compare OS maintenence between M$ and Apple??
right....

After reading through this, and going through everyone's portfolios, I'd say that it's probably a good computer for you.

No need for the bitterness.

I used to use Windoze on a PeeCee all the time, switched to Mac's 100% after using them at a particular workplace.
Had untold problems with Microsoft operating systems, zero problems with Mac OS X.
Yes I know it sounds a little biased, but that's just coincedence...
You'll pay slightly over the odds for Apple hardware, but offset that against not (hopefully) having to pay for tech support or whatever you want to call it and it should sort itself out.

Plus, you can run Windows through OS X on a Mac, and to my knowledge you cannot run OS X through Windows on a PC...
And Leopard is set to be pretty cool.
- Jaline0
True, although I've never had any problems with my current PC.

"No need for the bitterness."
You said it.
- Jaline0
Exactly. From both parties.

What did you expect out of this thread?
- Raniator0
Good unbiased advice I'm betting?!
- JesseJensen0
You obviously haven't been around for too long, although Jaline has. I don't think it's got much to do with computers at all.

Dude, I know exactly how this place works. But sometimes... only sometimes... people are actually fucking helpful.

j,
ill give you my old macbook (g3 beige tower) if youd like. I guess its not a macbook, but it runs 9.3 without flaw.

Jesse, you were the first person to post anything negative in this thread.
