I hope his lawyers take him for every penny he has, then goes to jail

dogs are only to be bred into purse size squirrel looking things and made to wear rhinestones and faux fur jackets and little leather booties

it is amazing that people tell others to be compassionate and tolerant, yet do not tolerate them and spew violent speak, wishing harm and/or death on them
amazing

yeesh i don't want the guy hurt, sodomized or anything. he needs to go through the process and be responsible for his actions...that's pretty much the gist of it. his attitude sucks though, and i'd really love to see the NFL react appropriately once this has all run it's course.
btw i'm a million times more outraged about other events (iraq, catholic church settling priest abuse cases) but this is a vick dog fighting thread so that's what i'm addressing ;)

He probably makes more in one year than I will accumulate in my entire life, haha.

"Which should *not*, and will not happen."

Dogfighting is a felony in Georgia, but owning a dog bred for fighting is completely legal... nice loop hole. I am sure he can afford lawyers that will exploit the shit out of that.

i'm so torn about pit bulls. i've known a few and they've been so sweet and really great looking dogs, but when i think that aggression is selected generation after generation, it makes me nervous :(

The fact that a dog probably has more rights than I do anyway if it was attacked violently is a whole other thread.

---well, unfortunately, those dogs really don't have many rights at this point. I'm sure most of them will be destroyed due to their violent nature. Hell, Vick and his entourage of idiots already destroyed a shit load of them. If I kicked a dog in the face, I'm not going to face much punishment. If I kicked a person in the face, well, now I'm looking at assault, battery, jail time, lawsuits and a criminal record.
Anyway, this really isn't so much about a dog's right more so than about breaking the law and being a sick individual... and now having to face the fucking music. In my opinion, if Vick was stompin out cats and pigeons in his back yard for the hell of it, I'd still think he was an extraordinary piece of shit. Not only that, but this whole thing is, of course, sensationalized just because he's Michael Vick. No, I don't think there's any embellishment about the horrors of dog fighting, but this media blitz isn't going to stop soon; but, I feel this is a good thing. This shit happens everyday. People know about it, but just don't care. I'm glad the media is putting this in everyone's face due to celebrity status. It's a situation that needed attention for a long time. Are things going to change for pit bulls or dog fighters anytime soon? No. But it's a stepping stone.

you know, maybe I'm hurt because I actually enjoyed watching Vick play on Sundays. I've always spoke about how he was a great athlete (not person) and how good he'd be if he could get his head right or possibly play at a different position.

that's true point5. i was actually involved in a lawsuit against a puppy mill in florida and what the judge explained was that in the majority of states, a dog has about as many rights as any other possession in your house. it's a thing, a commodity...like knick knack.

as a QB he is mediocre at best. They needed to groom him for something else.

(Jul 19 07, 13:11)it's the same as abuse, we've bred them to toys, little personal slaves for our own enjoyment and salvation. when people are done with them or gets upset that a child gets bit on the hand for poking a dog in the butt with a stick, off to the pound to be burned. no one cares about them, they're someone else's used, disregarded waste.
"An estimated 5 million cats and dogs are killed in shelters each year. That's one about every six and one half seconds"
you can't have one without the other. it may be violent and cruel, but so are a lot of other things that no one gives a shit about.
this is being over hyped for michael vick's name, plain and simple.
fuck, smoking kills over 400,000/year, anyone here decrying the tobacco industry? how many of you smoke. strange how priorities change based on personal beliefs and habits.
- morilla0
over-hyped? I don't think so.
- version30
well, i do
- material-10
people chose to smoke, these dogs had no choice IMO
- morilla0
did you read the indictment?
- version30
no chance at all, sold like slaves between one human to the next as a belonging and for profit. it was bad from the get go.
just because it was used for a violent act doesn't make the breeding and selling of pets immoral in the first place
can we also begin to destroy and bemoan the "police use" of dogs in their violent behavior?
i don't doubt that some will fail to see my point
- -sputnik-0
i guess i don't understand the logic here. you can't get mad or have a simple discussion about one topic without it being compared to "more important" matters? if we post here, it means we've exceeded our quota and can't care about anything else?
- version30
i guess what i'm trying to say is.
"priorities"
they are dogs after all, not humans, people are dying all across this planet from lack of nutrition and medical care but there is a satellite looping venus right now and a rover on mars sending back pics. money is not well distributed on this planet and neither is the compassion for life in general.
