Anyone owns one? If so, then is it worth it?

^ What?
It's a classy little camera. For the size it's pretty amazing.

Actually, I come from a 35mm manual camera and want something that is good quality, is small and has a manual mode. Also can't spend more than 500$.
So that takes out the Leica M8 and Epson RD-1 rangefinders.

SLRs are also interesting but are way to big.

Supposed to be a bit noisy according to reviews. Panasonic make the exact same camera for half the price too (Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2).
They look cool though, I want one :)

I like the Leica very much, but I haven't tried out many alternatives to it.

Yeah, it's really hard to get all if your wishes into one package.
- ease of carry is usualy where I make my compromisesepigraph

what doesnt the d-lux do that you want it to?
- omgitsacamera0
I bet you most of the cameras that kinda match what you're looking for all use the same sensor by Sony or someone else.
- Sensor isnt everything, the d-lux 3 has a fast 2.8 lens...slappy

omgitsacamera, do you know of similar style cameras (square "old school" DSLRs?)
- Like the ones that weigh a ton and are like 4MP's? Or like the Canon XT/i, Nikon D50, etc?omgitsacamera
- 7mp, body like the Pana DMC-l1/Sigma dp1, etc...non
- or the Leica M8 and Epson RD-1 (but DSLR).non
- Canon XT/i, and Nikon D70s, D50 all fit in that range. Good bargain too.omgitsacamera

i had a leica d-lux and sold it, the picture quality was good and the preview screen on the back of it large, but the one thing that really was annoying/odd was that the flash didnt automatically pop up in low light even though it had a sensor to know when to shoot flash.
