how exactly do you think the government works rafalski? it's not run by a dictator, it's staffed with tens of thousands of people who set and make policy. i know it's hard to accept but they are not all corporate drones, many of them are ordinary people like you or me who happen to care about the world.
according to you, it makes no difference what those people's views or ideology is. i disagree.

Mono-party? That's like calling an orange and an apple the same thing.

keep in mind, rafalski is in ireland, apparently.
- EU rejects...omgitsacamera
- EU saviours, more like ;) Voting NO wasn't anti EU, it was anti un-democratisation of EU.rafalski
- you could just say democratisation, ffs. no need for the prefixes cancelling each other.omgitsacamera

Is it better to be slowly stripped off personal liberties on the grounds of War on Terror or War on Climate? I don't know. I just think they're not to be trusted.
- It's the current regime that is stripping liberties for the wars. I'm not that far in calling you he-who-must-not-be-n...omgitsacamera
- That's right, it is. The new one will continue on and also use Global Warming to do the same.rafalski
- mrdobolina0
what rights are being stripped away because of the climate, exactly?
- In Australia - right to buy a lightbulb.. sorry it's Friday ;)
(but it's true nonetheless)rafalski - you're in fucking ireland.omgitsacamera

Personally, even though I can't vote yet, I still support him because he does bring hope and change.

I think the tenets of anarchy only work in small groups with access to sufficient resources. Man being a social animal, no matter how rational, the scale of the society one lives in requires some sort of hierachy and sovereignty. I think where we are now, speaking on a species level, both systemically and structurally, anarchy is not a possible solution to the ills that face us, at least not without a horrible-to-contemplate disaster and breakdown of economic and political authority of such a degree as to be unable to predict anything beyond that particular event horizon. Anarchists make important arguments, and much like Marxists, have alot to say about the very real failures in the current system. But again, imho like the Marxists, they rarely have any real solutions to the problems they find.

The equation of the better elements with the worse elements simply allows the WORST elements to take over.

Obama may prove to be a cult of personality, wouldn't suprise me. I'll grant him the benefit of the doubt until he proves it though. If he does involve people back in a dialogue with power then he will succeed regardless of whether any given policy of his takes hold. If people project onto him all their hopes with no role in the actual change in their involvement Obama will go down hard and fast.

All of this bitching would be far worse if Clinton had gotten it...can you imagine?
- gung_hoek0
being an idealist, obama will have to compromise with the swine sooner or later. being a politician, you have to get your hands dirty. rafalski´s right about that. the question is how long he can hold this stand.
maybe obama IS one of the few people who have the decency and backbone of a million people. it´s not unheard of.

The War on Climate
The right to buy a lightbulb freely is gone, you must buy CFL's. (The ACEU, American Civil Energy Union has filed suit)
Same with the right to buy alkaline batteries, the Batterist party has also filed suit.
Tax Cuts for Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Geothermal, etc. enacted. Solar companies grow 200% in 5 years. The People of America's Oil and Natural Gas Industry launches fierce attack ads.Feel free to add..
- Every individual is rationed 2 barrels of oil every other day.omgitsacamera
- but...but...what will the women wrestle in then???TheBlueOne

i find it GALLiNG, how Obama has been forced to kowtow to the American base: white, racist, religious nationalists. Saying some fucked up shit about his dedication to israel to satisfy powerful lobby groups.
But i don't blame him. THiS iS AMERiCA. And it's pefectly democratic for him to have to compromise all his values to win an election. After all, he has to WiN OVER THE PEOPLE.
You know how close he came to losing the nomination for being an intelligent black man? do you know how much of what McCain represents helps the heart of America sleep well at night?
i don't see him having any other options. No matter how visionary and capable the candidate, he will always have to swim through the same slime. But the slime isn't the government. The slime is the people - mass politics - democracy.
Just pray for his second term and see how he acts when he's got nothing to lose.

Hey, I didn't mean to break the spirit or hope of the good people who really believe in change for good.
Apologies if it appeared so.What I'm saying is, be conscious, be aware, question things and read between the lines. Democratic election is a liar contest by its nature, so you have to be very careful. Choices made affect everyone.
"Your" politician, whoever he might be, is not your buddy, need to remember that.- Oh yeah, fair enough...but as I said above, the gov is not just one person.ukit
- Ok. Now go back to something you're not a part of.omgitsacamera
- i don't see the point of cynicism. Well within reason, but you can definitly have too much of it :)kuzzAAAAM

see you in august!

McCain is f-in blabbing about catching Bin-F-in-Laden! For real? C'mon you pandering, depends wearing puppet boy. We will never see him again, he is Keyser Soze as far as I am concerned. Next time we hear from him there will be a loud boom. Then poof, gone again.
I can't wait for this election.

Well, Obama is meeting with French president Sarkozy to hopefully discuss American economics today. What bugs me is that Obama is slightly to the left of Sarkozy, who recently lowered capital tax rates in France and abolished that ridiculous 35 hours/week labor law.
I fear that if Obama does get elected, which isn't unlikely at this point, he will want to raise every tax known to man, completely blame the rich for the widening socioeconomic gap in America, and ultimately discourage pro-worker, pro-business growth here, instead of promoting growth for EVERYONE by giving the poor the tools, education, and training they need to succeed in this capitalist society.
Nothing is accomplished by limiting everyone with taxes and regulations, other than economic regression. We should be removing those limitations for everyone.
Hopefully Sarkozy will talk some sense into him.
- Are you suggesting that America become more of the elitist state it is?omgitsacamera
- Wait until Obama lays his universal healtcare upon you, pulling the money for it from his magic hat a.k.a. your pocket.rafalski
- There is nothing elitist about anything I suggested.hedge
