i want to upgrade my 1.1.1 iPhone to 2.0 but the bloody language on some of those sites is so frustrating that I can't figure it out and can't be arsed into understanding it.
It reads like a bunch of lawyers going back and forth about details in a contract.

gucci do you have a PC?
if so PC one is much better to use.if you use the iphone dev for osx, you get stuck with pineapple logo with cartoony Jobs..
the PC one, you can customize the loading image etc
- you can change these no problem in the OS X version

Yeah, I have a PC.
So the pwnage tool for PC will jailbreak and SIM unlock my 1.1.1. phone?
- rafalski0
no, it will help you upgrade to 2.0 with a pre-jailbroken and unlocked firmware
- MrDinky0
yes it will unlock first gen iphone (not 3G) and upgrade to 2.0
make sure you know how to put your iphone on recovery mode and also how to select ipsw when you click Restore button (its Shift and click Restore, it will allow you to browse to find your custom created ipsw)
also, you need 3 files.
bin 3.9
bin 4.6
2.0 ipsw filemake sure you click on enable baseband update with checking unlock baseband

i'm pretty sure the 3g iphone is pointless on tmob. from what i have read, the 3g frequencies are different when they decide its the right time to even officially launch their 3g service. get an older iphone, unlock and what not and you'll be fine, the only thing you will miss is the aGPS which would be nice.

you have to sign up with at&t right there when you purchase your phone tho.
- you can get one via pay as you go.. soon i hearMrDinky
- true. pay a full month and then cancel and pay the fee. then its yours no contractsototallycarl
- yah 30 day cancel.. keep the phone and pay the full price for phoneMrDinky
- MrDinky0
but its so pretty with black or white back!!!
but i do agree that 3G wont work on tmo and you will pay 500-700 for a no contract one

Damn. So what else is different on the 3G? is it that much of an improvement?
