"Beard: Phelps' Breaststroke Stays in the Pool" (lol)
http://news.bostonherald.com/tra…
"Olympic swimmer and Playboy covergirl Amanda Beard yesterday denied she is dating 14-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, with a rather insensitive “Ew, no!”
“I am not dating Michael Phelps! I have never, ever in my life hooked up with Michael Phelps,” the pool princess told a Phoenix radio show.
When asked if she’d ever kissed Phelps, Beard replied, “Ew, no.”
“I have really good taste,” she continued. “He’s not really my type, personally.” "
- pffft the cnt is just trying to get some attention since noone cares about her anymore...OSFA
- baaahaha,
Natalie Coughlin is so much hotter than Amanda Beard.flavorful - Yup, she just wants attention. Or they actually ARE dating, and she's doing a horrible job of making it less suspicious.Jaline
- Phelps had a much more short and nice response.Jaline
- pffft she's busted... just because she appeared in Playboy, people still think she's all that, I bet Phelps will get some hotter girls now...OSFA
- hotter chicks now with all the fame and $OSFA
- ahhh, the important things.refunktion

walking, bmx, hand ball, equestrians, I'm surprised hacky sack and Frisbee football isn't a freaking summer Olympic sport.

Comments made by NBC sports commentators this Olympics
1. Weightlifting commentator: This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.
2. Dressage commentator: This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.
4. Boxing Analyst: Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.
5. Softball announcer: If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.
6. Basketball analyst: He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces.
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew.
8. Soccer commentator: Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.
9. Tennis commentator: One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh my God, what have I just said?

This is a blogger's evidence that the Chinese gymnasts are underage. There seems to be an informal investigation going on in the news again today - most of which is based on the evidence from Chinese governmental documents, this guy uncovered searching Google's cached pages and cached pages at Baidu (chinese search engine). Very interesting controversy.
- Can you actually revoke medals based on this? I think you can, but sometimes they don't based on other things.Jaline
- Yes. 14 years old is too young to compete, and would require disqualification.ghandolf
- Did they really think they could pull a fast one on the entire world?dbloc
- Apparently they did. I would love to see Nastia move up to Gold. She so deserved it.ghandolf
- No, the Chinese deserved it. Unless they are underage.Jaline
- I don't think anything is going to stop the U.S.A. from being at the top for most medals, and China for having gold medals.Jaline
- that guy needs a fucking life!! They are promoting hackers and amateur 'investigations' to go crazy over this...
OSFA - You got a silver, that's it, go home and stop fucking bitchin about everything that doesn't go ur wayOSFA
- I totally agree with you OSFA. Bloggers can be bitches at times.Jaline

I need to know when we went from pronouncing it "bay-ZHING" to "bay-JING".
A little help, please.
- It's annoying, for sure.Jaline
- Even the commentators slip back to the "old" pronunciation, so it had to be an official decision, right?blaw
- Must be. Even CBC does this.Jaline
- I have never in my life heard it pronounced 'bay-ZHING'. It used to be 'Peking', right?detritus
- Chinese people say it "bay-zhing", don't they? I know I've heard it before...Jaline

I noticed the hard J in CBC's "BeiJing" too, annoying.
The Chinese in my Korean class pronounced it something more like "Pey-hing". (Or I'm making that up based on year-old memory of something said once.)

Awesome photos of the Olympics (complete with a nipple slip/malfunction - so prolly NSFW). It's one of those pages that has about a 1,000 photos on it, but they are all very good. Nice stuff. Loads pretty fast.

i don´t know if it was talked about before in this thread, but i couldn´t find it in the english coverage, and i was wondering about transatlantic differences in perception here.
the german press and many of the athletes take it as a given that every athlete who made it to the 100m/200m dash finals was doped. they featured sports scientists, athletes, as well as that mexican doping guy who turned witness recently, and alltogether they explained it very convincingly. considering the consistency of the jamaicans´ perfomances over the season, the fact that all finalists came form countries with no existing post-/preseason anti-doping checks (they said us-americans do their training in jamaica as well), the fact that not a single world/olympic champion in the last 15 years has a clean (doping free) career, huge sponsorships as motive, etc. all made for a very convincing conclusion.
i don´t remember this being mentioned in the nytimes, i guess the same applies for the rest of us media then. are the germans just grumpy for sucking at track&field, or is the us media putting a good face on the thing?
- Don't they check right after you get a medal though? I suppose you could be using something they can't find, but that doesn't always happen.Jaline
- always happen. Unless every single person is in on it, which only makes it easier for information to get leaked.Jaline
- they said the doping gets done pre-season, they can´t detect it. the greek team got nailed before the olympics during training, 1-2 weeks later they would have been clean.gung_hoek
- training, 1-2 weeks later they would have been clean.gung_hoek
- the mexican guy explained how he had molecualarly altered and then combined several substances for each athlete individually, so that today´s standard tests can´t get a grip.gung_hoek
- athlete individually, so that today´s standard tests can´t get a grip.gung_hoek
- I've heard they preserv all test of every single athletes for eight years because they know there's substances who are illegal that tests can't find yet.elektro
- illegal tests can't find them yet.elektro

Can someone explain why there is a team from "Great Britain"? Why don't England, Scotland, Wales & ireland compete as individual nations?
Perhaps Australia should team up with New Zealand. Jamaica, Bahamas and the rest of the Carribbean should team up.
- helps the medal count?iCanHasQBN
- We are a United Kingdom.Jnr_Madison
