This was both a moral dilemma for me, as well as a topic that provides fodder for the 3rd grade commentary, so i figured i'd post.
My wife and i just visited a friend of mine in the hospital who just had a baby on Tue, via c-section. While we were there a resident came in with the consent form for the little boy's circumcision, which will happen tomorrow.
Both of my boys are uncut. My wife and i had made that decision after she had done research (she's qualified to be a birth educator). Besides the fact that it's diminishing the sensitivity of the penis and supposedly diminishing the amount of comfort that a woman experiences during intercourse, a circumcision is major surgery on a person who's less than a week old.
These are dear friends, so we both held our tongues, as ultimately it's a decision for their family. But it occurred to me that they may not know anything besides that's what was done to the dad and it's seemingly what everyone else does.
So, if you disagree with circumcision, would you have said anything? If you advocate or have no problem with it, why?

I think it's a weird tradition, but also harmless. I wouldn't do or say anything.

I watched my son get circumcised. I'm going to have to say it's far from a major surgery. It's the removal of extra skin and babies heal very quickly. Do I think it's necessary? not really. I got into an argument with my mother about it (she's been a pediatric nurse for over 34 years) and she believes that all males should be circumcised to prevent infections and promote hygiene; her argument is that “little boys can't even wash their hands, much less keep their dicks clean”
personally, I don't need any more sensitivity. to be honest, if that shit was anymore sensitive I'd probably have 3 more kids by 3 other chicks by now.

Well, it's hardly harmless. If someone unwillingly did it to an adult it'd be considered mutilation. Additionally, all his nerves are new, undulled.
Be that as it may, we're not gonna say anything. If they made the decision with eyes wide open, i have nothing to say.
But i'm gonna feel like shit if later on they're like "We didn't know"

I would tell them politely or ask them if they have a reason to do it. My son is also uncut./

Curious: Did you guys save the foreskin? You know, kinda like how you save baby's first tooth.

I think circumcision is partly a memetic consideration in the States. The US seems to do it more often than not. In Europe, you only get circumcised for religious reasons or for existing medical conditions.
The old arguement about hygiene is bullshit. A circumcised penis is no more hygienic than an uncircumscised penis. Hygiene is up to the owner of the unit. I have spent my entire life uncircumcised and I don't have any hygiene problems and never have.
Oh wait, there was that one time? at bummer camp? this one guy was (pto)
- religious reason is just as ludicrous of a reason. Somewhat of body-mod or mutilations imo.Point5

Relax baby, we don't need a condom, check it out look.... I'm uncircumcised.

it's not that popular now (in Canada anyways). we had twins two years ago and our doctor said that out of twenty baby boys born only about 2-3 get snipped.

If it's just a friend (and not a really close one), I wouldn't say anything.
- What, ever again? They would be upset by this course of action I think, and perplexed, and confused.Koopsy
- Are you talking about the baby?Jaline
- If you're comfortable with talking about those kinds of things, go ahead. but ultimately it's their private business.Jaline

"you know, i was thinking about your son's penis the other day..."

unnecessary in the modern world, it's quite barbaric.
In Africa however they claim it reduces the rate of HIV infection, but that could be the moil conspiracy spreading propaganda.

plus it's better for anal sex.
