You don't get it, I know. I do bag on Democrats but only because this place is so pro Dem. If it were pro Rep I would bag on the Republicans. How some of you can be so black and white is beyond me. It's really not an opinion based in reality, it's all just talking point rhetoric. I don't bag on Dems 'constantly,' just parse through some of the comments I've made. Might have seemed that way to you, but you might also find where I said that I really want Obama to win...I'm skeptical but I do like him over McCain even if I don't agree with a lot of his policies. The problem I have with this, and other 'political' message boards is that everyone just plays partisan politics. When in fact, it's really simple minded to pick one side and then act like the other side is a bunch of baby eating motherfuckers who want to destroy us.
Like you say, I am fucking above all of this. Without trying to sound too self-righteous, I'm viewing things from a non-biased middle. It's hard not to feel above a lot of this bs when 90% of the posts on here are from people who have their heels dug in and will explain away the actions of their 'team' to suit their purpose but aren't mature enough to take a step back and say 'Is this what I REALLY want out of someone who is going to represent me?' And a lot of people on here can't stand to have their little world threatened so if anyone has a different point of view then the intruder is to be castrated and branded as a moron. It's immature, intolerant and again, not realistic. For fucks sake we're on a god damn internet message board, be civil to one another. You guys act like you're actually writing policy or something.
Anyways. I'm going to be honest this time. I'm gone. I really don't feel like getting into this and I'd rather leave before the rocks come flying again.

Before 9/11, I was non-partisan. Frustration in Republican rule has made me this way. You say I am dug in, I am merely reacting to the most pitiful form of government I have seen in my 36 years on this planet. To put it simply, the Republicans have fucked this country up entirely in my estimation. Economy, War, Civil RIghts, etc. Everything has been rammed through by republicans, when you disagree you are labeled a terrorist or America hater. I have a right to be pissed off at Republicans. Sorry if you can't see my point of view.

in response to those republican war cries a few posts back...
Husein, Hussein, Hossain, Hussain, Husain, Hosein, Husayn, Hussaini (Arabic:حسین Turkish: Hüseyin), is an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning "good" or "handsome" or "beautiful". It is commonly given as a male given name among Muslims, after Husayn ibn Ali, although the name is so common it is also given to persons of secular backgrounds. In some Persian sources the form Háosayn is used.
And they will count someone out because they share a name that is popular and correlate it with Saddam. It's probably as popular as John in the US.
We gotta unify this system, it's ridiculous - it really comes down to the younger generations all these old fat cats dont want their carpet pulled out from under them, and that includes the Democrats.

Actually I mostly agree with tommyo, but the thing is, we have dems and repubs to choose from here in the US of A. I consider a vote for a third party, while admirable, a waste of a vote in the current situation. One way or the other we have to turn left right now, and that means Obama. It's like being in the car with a manic who's been steering right into a wall for the last 8 years..we have to turn left just to avoid a complete trainwreck.
And granted, both parties are cupable, but truth told the Republicans under the Bush White House and the Repub congress between 94-2006 has driven us into a fucking ditch and tarnished some deep and fundamental principles of American Constitutional government to such a degree that they have to be removed from anywhere near the levers of power. I miss a smart and principled old school american right wing party. They have disappeared from the landscape. Bush, Rove, Limbuagh, Coulter are ideolouges - not leaders. Can they return? I don't know. I hope so.
I happen to like Obama in many ways, wary of him in others. Like I said a few pages back i don't think Obama is going to be the Progressive force that many on the left think he is. But either way, McCain/Palin would be a fucking disaster. We need a fundamental sea change in this country..and hopefully the wave that is bringing Obama is bringing that change.

i heard McCain is going to try to kick Obamas ass about Abortion.. let's see how that will go..

Because two political parties have faults doesn't mean a third will be without fault.
You either deal with the politics of the sitiuation or you don't vote.

Before we throw up our hands and say all is lost and both parties are equally fucked, let's remember who's been in charge for the past 8 years. Yes, there has been a Democratic Congress and Senate for the past two years but what a lot of people forget is that the Senate is deadlocked 50-50, which means they can't really get anything done.
I'm a little more cynical, I guess, about the prospects of a third party being all that better. People like Ralph Nader and Ron Paul sound great in theory, but that's mainly because they don't have to worry about actually getting elected. If these kinds of people were serious candidates, you would see them have to grapple with the same tough choices as everyone else.

A point I made on the phone earlier today with a friend:
"Certain elements of the Right is getting off on calling Obama a 'terrorist' in public cause they can't just come out and call him a 'n***r' like they do in private."
