I'm against any sort of politics that resorts to marketing and show off. So I'm with Al Gore.

Yesss, McCain is in front of Obama in the latest polls
Its sad, that I'm actually enjoying this situation.- Oh my God! A slight bump after a much hyped convention. Voters love hype. Give it time.jjoeth6

there's a lot of "blame the media" talking going on in the blogs and whatnot, and i agree to the extent of the broadcast media. the spin that happens on television is irresponsible journalism, especially for the outlet that has overtaken print & online. if you actually read newspapers or news online, the spin is relatively minimal and the breadth of stories covered is wider.
however with the necessity to fill 24 hours a day with "news," and the lack of both domestic & foreign bureaus to be covering events other than those in the national spotlight, the pundits on TV must re-hash talking points for a majority of their airtime. this works incredibly to the advantage of the republicans, as while all politicians repeat themselves, they're the ones who talk in terms of gossip and hearsay as opposed to policy and agendas (which is far more 'boring' to listen to on a form of entertainment). it's both a fault of the system and a fault of the user for not holding themselves accountable and being more responsible in seeking out information that will impact their lives.
- also, the closer the race is, the more people will watch CNN. so that's to their advantage, as well.colin_s

I want to know why the pregnant teenage daughter is so "off-limits." It was brilliant of the Dems to say so, but I think it does deserve some attention. It really does show morals. If Palin's "abstinence only" approach doesn't even work at home, what does that say about her ability to assess a situation and provide responsible leadership?
- I'd leave her family out of it. Take the high ground. She has other issues her competence can be judged onTheBlueOne
- Yeah, the Dems should stay out of it. But the media has always scrutinized everything. Why stop now?jjoeth6
- Why stay out of it? Is the poor thing going to get an education before she becomes a mother? and what about her beau? Or is he going to pump gas at the aunts service station?********
- going to pump gas at the aunts service station?
Then, palin serves her to the media as an example of what? a girl overwhelmed without hope of changing her mind: are you telling me she isn't ruined? What a shameful waste.********

^ Imagine how FOX News would handle this if it were Obama's daughter or Biden's. We all know the answer to this...even you lemming Republitards know.
- Lt_Jack_Hammer0
Since the country seems split 50/50 on this election here's what I think we should do....
Let's give 25 states to McCain/Palin to run and 25 states to Obama/Biden...after 4 years we'll take a look at the numbers and see who did a better job. I would literally bet my life on Obama and Biden doing a better job and a much larger percentage of people in their 25 states being better off financially, physically (healthcare), emotionally, intellectually then people in the 25 McCain/Palin states.
- Haha... great idea!jjoeth6
- it would be like west / east Germany all over again.. and mc-stalin would build a wall to stop people fleeing to the other side.. while effectively keeping the mexicaens out.Mirpour

US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may be struggling to nudge ahead of his Republican rival in polls at home, but people across the world want him in the White House, a BBC poll said.
All 22 countries covered in the poll would prefer to see Senator Obama elected US president ahead of Republican John McCain.
In 17 of the 22 nations, people expect relations between the US and the rest of the world to improve if Senator Obama wins.
More than 22,000 people were questioned by pollster GlobeScan in countries ranging from Australia to India and across Africa, Europe and South America.
The margin in favour of Senator Obama ranged from 9 per cent in India to 82 per cent in Kenya, while an average of 49 per cent across the 22 countries preferred Senator Obama compared with 12 per cent preferring Senator McCain. Some four in 10 did not take a view.
"Large numbers of people around the world clearly like what Barack Obama represents," GlobeScan chairman Doug Miller said.

You have to hand it to McCain he's turned the whole thing into a culture war with one maneuver. I actually think the religious right should be insulted by such a disingenuous VP pick. Unite the party divide the country.
- McCain didn't do it. Rove did.TheBlueOne

Seriously, forget the issues and Palin and all this crap for a second and think about the voter suppression plans the GOP rolls out every election year. Like this for example:
"Officials in charge of voter registration in Virginia seem to be asking for Federal investigation... According to this press release from this extremely important battleground state, students are being told that they risk losing their scholarship and tax dependency status if they register to vote in their college, as opposed to home, state. And surprise, it appears all these warnings are bogus and have one impact and one impact only: to suppress voter turnout among college-aged people, who are overwhelmingly supporting Obama this year. Memo to Virginia: that’s illegal. "
http://www.insidehighered.com/ne…
And this from a hotly contested federal election in Mississipi this week:
"Hosemann could cite no statute supporting his decision to move the race from the top of the ballot. However, Attorney General Jim Hood did cite election law requiring federal races be placed at the top of the ballot...
...The unlawful ballot is expected to cause confusion for voters expecting to find the Musgrove-Wicker race with other federal elections where it belongs. The most prominent election in the state will be one of the hardest races to find on Election Day.
Mississippi election law, code 23-15-367, clearly states federal races, like the Musgrove-Wicker race, belong on the top of the ballot."
--------------------------Mmmm...hmmmm. And how many states are STILL using Diebold machines with no paper trail? Are you saying the US is so fucking advanced that in 8 years we couldn't fix this problem?
The GOP uses a hundred and one dirty tricks to complicate and undermine the legitimacy of the voter process. It was still a mathematical/Statistical near impossibility for the 2004 exit polls to be as off as they were...
If you think that's not going to happen this time around, you're nuts. Obama might have overcome it if he could guarantee a landslide, but that's looking less and less likely as the McCain throws smoke mirrors and red meat at the usual suspects. Keeping it just close enough that dirty tricks matter.

McCain / Palin to Heart: Fuck You

Also note to liberals: The Republicans lie. Even when it is pointed out, they continue. No, they aren't stupid, they're doing it to piss you off so that you sound like a raving lunatic trying to point out their hypocrisy as they sit there and smugly repeat a lie. It's a feature, not a bug. It allows their media operatives to then use words like "unhinged" and "moonbat" about your attitude. It works for them. The sooner you learn that, the better it will be.
- Even the Wall Street Journal calls 'em on it, and they keep lying.

If these politicians (on both sides) want their families to be off limits, then don't use them as fucken props at your conventions, media conferences and photo opportunities.
