In 2006 Harper pushed for legislation that would set fixed election dates. The legislation passed:
"Fixed election dates prevent the government from calling snap elections for short-term political advantage... They level the playing field for all parties and the rules are clear for everyone." ... "Fixed election dates stop leaders from trying to manipulate the calender simply for partisan political advantage."
-- Stephen Harper, 2006The next fixed election date? October *2009*.
Hypocrite! When Harper says parliament isn't working it means he can't ram through his scary rightwing ideology in minority status. He wants a majority so he can ban gay marriages, revoke women's rights, and sell the country to McCain.

Personally, I lean to the right (if I was american though I'd vote Dem. every time). I'm not as far right as the Conservatives, although I have enjoyed their GST reduction. The Liberals are more in line with my political thoughts but are so crooked and f'ed up and can't seem to get their priorities straight. I'll never be a complete socialist (I enjoy keeping my hard earned money) so I'll never vote NDP. I may actually give my vote to the green party so that they can earn some more respect. The environment is a huge issue, and if they get a certain number of votes they get some federal funding for their party. I think they deserve it so I may throw my vote their way even if the have no chance. Kind of a weird decision for me, uber-right or uber-left, what way to go?
- then you're the typical canadian : center. right when tories in power. left when liberals in powerFanco

I met Elizabeth May once at university. She gave us tons of information about the Green Party and I actually learned more about her. She's pretty funny.

I'll vote the Marxist-Leninist Party you cunts.

I still can't believe the Liberal party has Stéphane Dion. I wanted someone like Michael Ignatieff or Gerard Kennedy. Someone from a different province or with a background, at the very least.
