People who shift their vote away from one of the left leaning parties (Green, NDP) and vote in order to keep their least favorite party out of power have always made me angry. Using the argument that a vote for the NDP or Green is a wasted vote because they never have a chance of winning is just going to become self fulfilling. Vote for who you really believe will do the best job, even if it's just for the principal of it..... otherwise we might as well go to a two party system like our lovely neighbours down south.

In 2006 Harper pushed for legislation that would set fixed election dates. The legislation passed:
"Fixed election dates prevent the government from calling snap elections for short-term political advantage... They level the playing field for all parties and the rules are clear for everyone." ... "Fixed election dates stop leaders from trying to manipulate the calender simply for partisan political advantage."
-- Stephen Harper, 2006The next fixed election date? October *2009*.
Hypocrite! When Harper says parliament isn't working it means he can't ram through his scary rightwing ideology in minority status. He wants a majority so he can ban gay marriages, revoke women's rights, and sell the country to McCain.

I'm throwing the Greens my vote because they are right wing fiscally but committed to the environment. I agree with a user-pay system and a cut to my income taxes the way they have it. In fact, they are more right wing fiscally than the conservatives but still socially responsible. Plus, they are all for decriminalizing marijuana so that helps a lot of people out here in BC ... ha.

oh fuck this is some heated shit with the american election going on aswell.

I'm with horton - anything to prevent a conservative majority.
I thought Elizabeth May was very impressive last night. The Greens aren't a one issue party and deserve to have a voice in the house.
Layton was trying to hard to make a sound bit by repeating the same phrases over and over. "Kitchen table issues" "50 billion in corporate tax cuts" must of heard those two phrases a dozen times.
Any one else notice that smug smile on Harper's face? It drove me nuts....

even if it gets heated, we will end up apologizing to eachother... you know... being canadian and all :)

i didn't realize canada had politics. who's winning?
- KwesiJ0
any insight into this concept of 'vote swapping'? seems somewhat convoluted but no less inventive way to create change with voting,

^ bump for truth
If the Conservatives are given a majority they'll turn Canada into a hellhole, or worse, the US.
