i was looking over other photographer's websites and it really bugs me how photography, (digital), has lost essence of reality and corrupted, its capture of light, a true moment and the patience and skill of a true photographer. In medium format and film this brings out the true meaning of photography. Its like Bob Dylan's Song... Rollin' And Tumblin' on the Modern Times Album:
I got troubles so hard, I can't stand the strain
I got troubles so hard, I can't stand the strain
Some young lazy slut has charmed away my brains...- I am sure the B&W enthusiasts said the same thing about color film back in the day.danthon
- I agree, but manipulation of a photograph was still restricted. Now days, the original photograph is not even close to finshed product.Calero
- Perhaps your beef is with digital retouching. Many photogs still take their time and get it right in camera.danthon
- maybe it is... but honestly there are not many who do... There are so many people that when shooting they shoot about a million pictures just to get one decent one, instead having patience and understanding of light conditions and the moment to get a one good photograph...Calero
- million photographs instead of having patience and understanding of light and the moment to take one good photograph.Calero
- Amateurs care about focus. Pros care about money. Photographers care about light. I am enjoying this thread, but I will not be going back to film exclusively anytime soon. Keep it up!danthon
- am more interested in the finished image than the process. Keep it up.danthon

Hey Calero, Thanks for your kind words. I was actually looking at your Polaroid of your mother again today. I really do love that image. This thread you started has certainly been inspiring. I am so glad to have been introduced to your work.
danthon, nice image of the Japanese Maple. A timely shot for fall. We have a number of these trees on the street where I live but it is hard to capture the brilliance of the color on film. You did a nice job of that with the above. I also like the branches radiating from the center of the trunk. Makes me feel a little dizzy in a good kind of way.

is medium format large enough to shoot nude people, i dont want photos to look small, i like everything very large.

allysin... I love the perspective of your landscape images... i would love to see an image closer to the ground or an object to see if it can throw off the scale... like placing the camera on one of the rocks, or on the sand... the contrast isnt bad at all, dont be so hard on yourself! :)

Calero, thank you so much for that feedback. I think that is a really good suggestion. With this medium being so new for me I am partly still just amazed that I get images at all. I feel like I am getting to the point now though where I need to focus on content more. Up to this point these shots have mostly just been about familiarizing myself with the process. I sort of have to apologize for showing you all my learning curve, but I have really appreciated the feedback.

medium format only... please...

allysin, i have never been to seattle but your photographs make me want to go... of course to visit the city, but the intimate parts of a city and people's lives are what truly captures me. :)
