nah its not racist in essence.. it's about racism. there's a big difference. Very old storyline, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. But also, eastwood's the only actor in it. the little boy is the worst actor I've EVER EVER EVER seen!!
still worth a watch tho

This film is complete bollocks. One of the worst films I've ever seen and I have seen a lot of bad films.

i think it's a pretty good flick actually.
one of the better ones the past year

No sir, you are mistaken. The acting is wooden as fuck, the story is pure fucking cliché, the script it fucking terrible and clint eastwood has directed much, much, much better films that this over hyped bullshit. In fact, I would say that if Clint Eastwood had not directed it, it would have been straight to DVD, then bargain bin in less than a year.
There is even a song about his fucking car playing over the end credits, sung by clint and its much worse than anything Katie Melua could come up with.
So in summation, bollocks of the highest order.

If Clint thought this was a good film and oscar-worthy then its definitely time to retire. Is the reason it got such good reviews the fact that 'oh, clint is really old, and look in the film- he's playing an old bloke! Fuck, me, how very un-stereotypical! Oscar!'
The supporting cast are all carved from fucking oak, the priest and the young lad especially, neither one should be actors for fuck sake. Clint scowls and mumbles his way through saying shit like 'Ive more in common with these people than my own family...grrr'. Well fucking spotted Clint, thanks for telling me that cos I was having trouble following the already well signposted film. Is there any chance I could have subtitles too, in case I get lost again?
Fuck me. Terrible, terrible film.

Just watched it and I loved it. I think Eastwood sounded exactly like Snake from the MGS games.
The movie was anything but racist. Don't know why people say that as all I heard were a some (ok, a lot of) racial slurs relevant to building his character and the story. It's not like they were gratuitous in any way. All this PC fucking OTT bullshit really gets my goat.
Sure, the next-door neighbor acting was pretty wooden, but Clint was spot on as always. Laugh-out-loud funny at several scenes.
I almost started crying at the end, but mainly because I was thinking about his old dog now having the only two people he loved die and now having to be looked after by a stranger :'(

Its a solid film in a sea of mostly movie theatre rubbish lately. Surrender to it a bit and you'll find Clint's character arc is pretty clear and resonant. And yeah, it is amazing how this film manages to make bigotry both wrong and funny at the same time as delivering a powerful narrative.

great movie. the complete opposite to racist. of course his character is to start with, but that's the whole idea of the movie.

it's ok. it was a little 'movie of the week' in a few parts. the acting isn't great - eastwood is good as always but it felt a little ham-fisted in parts. worth seeing through. my 2cents.
- fooler20
watched it Friday night. It's a solid 75%.
I wondered what any minorities thought of the movie.
he does say some pretty horrible racial words.- but the movie is as far from racist as you can getmonospaced
- exactly. I thought it was a good film fwiwtheredmasque

egg roll
click clack
ping pongnew racial slurs that made me lol
Eastwood must have grumbled "ehhhh" about a thousand times during the film. It was awesome.

i think it's great, depending on what you wanted to get out of it. I laughed my ass off; it's CE the way you imagine him. Slit eyes and speaking with out moving his teeth.
Also, I just feel like the entire production is so Eastwood. Like, everything flows through his filter...all decisions, shots, etc. Not exactly creative.
- graham4140
It was a real film, it had a universal statement.
- dewilde0
haha, did he sing the closing song? wow.
- gramme0
I thought it was great. Yes, he plays an old racist asshole, but he gets right in the end.

The big pot version was a rapid quarter mile sprinter but that sold in very few numbers, so the model most people know is the 4.0 litre V8. Its a good car and well built but like all American cars of that time it was designed to go straight and not in an kind of hurry because it cannot corner and it just can't stop.

I gotta go, good day, pusscake.
