I failed to mention, my letterhead has a similar asymmetrical layout, which is why I didn't just center the whole thing and call it a day.

my 2 cents: don't use gotham – it's so overused
- it will date very quickly and i know you'd like this to have some longevity._salisae_
- nevar!gramme
- really? I think Gotham is timeless. True it's everywhere these days, but I still love it...gramme
- otherwise i think it is nice, if not a little too simple._salisae_
- i was just having this conversation hours ago with a designer who choose gotham and now regrets it_salisae_
- well, I want something super minimal, yet tactile—thus the silver engraving.gramme
- how too simple?gramme
- not even a ligature? as a designer i am left to scrutinize the kerning of Metagramme._salisae_
- I'm pretty set on the logotype. I tried a gr ligature, couldn't make it look graceful.gramme
- It felt forced...gramme
- how about between the tail of the a and the foot of the m?_salisae_
- Gotham is a good font. It will stay a good font for ever. Don't touch it IMO.non
- If you like it, use it. Who cares what other opinionated people think?dMullins
- don't listen to her. it looks perfect.Antonelli
- I have to agree with salisaejuhls

Oh and the paper is black, not printed.

Your name is Matt? Ha, I thought it was gramme!:P
Card looks nice.

the layout seems a bit off. i know it's asymetrical, but i think you should play with the grid some more. move the type around to some different locations. the studio email hanging so far left is i think is what is doing it. also for a crit you might want to go with just xxx-xxx-xxxx for your phone number. there's some weirdo's on qbn and having your phone number out there might not be a good idea. mikejjj is just looking for a new stalking buddy. good start though gramme.
- I also have silver and black cards and love them.moveinspace
- i agree, that part sounds beautiful_salisae_

The more I look at it I am not so sure of the font choice. I like Gotham but I think you need a slightly more modern serif, or a slightly more classic sans. It'll make a nice looking card either way but I think a better match could be found.
- I agree and am a big fan of Gotham. I think he could pick a another sans that is more complimentary. Im not sure that Gotham's geometric forms relate well to the Mercury.Josev
- Gotham's geometric forms relate well to the Mercury.Josev
- Whitney woulid be a better matchJosev
- See I like that bit of contrast, between Gotham's round forms and Mercury's sharp serifs.gramme

changed to fake number, thx for heads up movein...
- no prob. no one would mess with you anyways. your name sounds like a superhero.moveinspace

The fonts are totally, absolutely set. I think Gotham and Mercury make a great pair, and they suit my personality. Both are relatively contemporary but (imho) timeless in their attention to detail. Should have made it clearer that I'm interested in layout critique, since I've been struggling with that bit.
- (I fiddled with the letters in my logotype so much, I don't even remember exactly what I did).gramme

I dig it.

I tried another option that prints two sides, but I'm worried that it seems disjointed—especially since the contact info side would have to be litho instead of engraved.
- *the other option I tried, I mean.gramme
- ahh, I see...neue75_bold

i'd like to see it printed – make sure to show us!

there are two spacing areas that seem off to me – the M seems too close to the e and the leading between the studio@ and the phone looks too tall.
- gramme0
- your kerning is just finemonospaced
- am looks a bit too loosejimbojones
- i thought so at first too but look a's tail and the m compared to the other spacing, the kerning is sound.jaylarson
- I subtly opened M/e after posting this jpeg, so it's optically consistent with the last m/e.gramme
- _salisae_0
Ahh. Thanks for posting it clearly like that. The 'me' at the end looks looser than the 'Me' at the beginning. And as far as the leading goes, do you choose optically or metrically? I always choose optically but I suppose you could tweak it on the proof.
- do you mean tracking?Josev
- nope I mean leading as I am talking about the space between his phone number & email_salisae_
- I would tweak it if the numbers were shorter than cap height, but they aren't. It's a trick of the jpeg, trust me the leading is even :)gramme
- even :)gramme
- cool - that JPEG is shifty_salisae_
- uhm, I think you mean kerning. leading is the space from one line to the next, not between words or charactersJosev
- ahh, l misread. You were referring to line spacing. But optical and metric refer to tracking in design appsJosev
- gramme0
Leading? Do you mean tracking? I started with metric kerning and tweaked most of the letter pairs in my name & contact info.
- digdre0
i give you critique if you send me one. I collect them.
Pretty nice actually.
I once asked for a price for mine, about 270€ for 500pieces. the cunts.

it's just single sided? seems like a waste..
I think it's ok, but I'd expect something a bit more from you.. I really don't like the size, think that's what's throwing me off... Black and silver is also just so common, the engraving will be nice though.. personally I'd like to see it all in mercury, but hey, you're the boss...
also don't forget to make the "@" a point size smaller! :)
- just read your comment above regarding double sided...neue75_bold
- shame though as 'metagramme' would be nice on it's own and same with the contact info...neue75_bold
- which might look disjointed because of the contrast.. shame Gothams lc is so ugly :) because that would helpneue75_bold

Center the @ (doesn't Gotham have a cap @?) and make spaces between the numbers tighter. All spaces actually. A4 has ugly proportions, but that's hard to proove since everyone got so used to it...
- Did you just say A4 has ugly proportions? Get the fuck out of here!monospaced
- You can marry A4 if you like. It's ugly, very useful because of multiplication, but ugly.jimbojones
- It's based on the golden ratio, like most everything on this planet.monospaced
- Look up Golden Raito, A4 it is not.jimbojones
- It's not strictly based on that ratio, but it is similar. And, I might add, more elegant than standard American b/card size.gramme
- It's similar because it's a ratio, right?jimbojones
