Recruiter organises me to meet with agency. Interview goes for over 2 hrs and we hit it off. Agency wants to hire me immediately and scrambles to get paper work together. Recruiters jack their rate up and argue with agency. Agency cancels contract with recruiter and by doing so are not allowed to hire me independently or contact me for 6 months. I remain unemployed after 3 months of searching for work....
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCC... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

If the agency go ahead an hire me anyway, they must pay full fees to the recruitment agency... it just makes you wonder. all those interviews that went for over an hour and there was chemistry and you felt you were really in with a chance, only to later be told by the recruiter, "oh they came back to me and said you weren't what they were looking for". maybe the recruiter just asked for too much and the employer said get fucked. but the only person that gets fucked is you!
- who has to know?
contact them******** - change your username to 'valid' and it'll all swing around for you.airey

what about a different job title?

I had the same situation with a recruitment agency, I had a interview and it went really well, and they wanted to offer me a job, but then rang me up to say they couldnt as they would have to pay fees that add upto a couple of grand.
The funny thing was that the very next day I see an advert for them in the guardian but does that mean you cant re-apply?
you probably need to read the small print on the recruitment contract to see what it says?
- I did fuck the recruitment place and just worked for them anyway :)FallowDeer

what a bunch assholes!!!
what recruitment company was it? seriously you must be so fucked off right now!! damn I'M getting fired up just thinking about it!!
go to them and demand that they revert to the original rate! beg!! plead!! threaten!! if that fails, go for the old petrol and a zippo trick!!!!

To be honest its the potential employer who has fucked this up not the recruitment company. The recruitment company, if legit, would have made their fees system clear at the offset so if the employer is suddenly surprised by the cost they clearly didn't pay any attention and just expected the recruitment company to be working for free, like some kind of charitable concern.
- This is speculation, not that it couldn't be true. Some are more shady than others, legit or no.oooooo

fuck em - they do you more harm than good believe me.
these people go to studios to represent you and who knows what the fuck they say. End of the day, they dont actually care about you and will fuck you over at any given opportunity.
best bet is to have some balls and call the CD at the studio yourself. That way, your work can still do the talking and the studio get to know you first hand.

I would contact the agency again and ask them what the hell they are playing at. Or just ask to be taken of there books for being utter fuck wits.

similar happened to me once. Best thing to do is try and avoid recruiters, I found a job a few months later by approaching agencies directly, they actually raised my salary by a few thousand based on not going via a recruiter.
recruiters seem to employees as a 'key to the door' but you will find that agencies only using recruiters to find talent cos no one has the bolox to approach them directly.. so they don't know where to get people when they need someone. Agencies often hate using recruiters as much as we do.

best bet is to just email everyone on that list with a link to your portfolio and ask if there's any work going.

Yes, can everyone just stop using recruitment agencies!
It's just lazy...

Been sent on some interviews with recruitment agencies, I hate all the 'im your best mate' garble they give you.
I have been offered a few jobs which I didnt want through agencies and they literally badger you into taking the job. I had 4 telephone conversations each lasting about 30 min with the guy trying to convince me to take the job just so he can make his commission.
Or if you arent suitable they drop you like a sack of shit.

Recruitment agencies aren't there to carry you through your life with kid gloves on. You go to them because you want a new job, they put some options in front of you and you have the choice of applying or not. If you agree to apply, and get an interview, and the client likes you and wants to offer you a job, then the recruiter has done what they said they would do. You have been in charge all along, so at the point where you get offered a job and you say you don't want it the recruiter is obviously going to try and talk you around because they have made the investment and naturally they would quite like the return... it is after all, a business.
A lot of the comments I'm reading on this thread show me how easy everyone's been having it since we recovered from the last recession. You all seem to want everything your own way.
If you don't like recruitment agencies then don't use them and use your own initiatives to get exactly the job you want, that way only you are responsible.
- and thats THATWeLoveNoise
- Thats understandible Koopsy but its for the reason stated above that I stopped using them.Sherbit

I went through 2 recruitment agencies in London and to be fair I can't complain at all. They got me a few interviews and to save me travelling a few times they'd cram them in 1 or 2 days. A lot of those jobs weren't advertised on websites, well not that I could find anyway and the experience I gained from going to all these interviews really helped in the long run. One of the recruiters taught me some great techniques that definitely work a treat. So I can't complain really. It would be nice to find the jobs yourself but it take's a lot more work but I did find one that way too just by putting my CV on a job site. As annoying as recruiters can be with the whole "alright mate" bollocks, I can't knock them, they're doing their job and that's all it is, you have to kind of expect to be fucked up the ass a bit by the. But I do feel for you mate, I'd be livid and I'm sure there must be some way you can get around this because it's not your fault.
