think ian brown gig was the best when after 30mins some fuckin ninjas came on to FEAR. i thought - fuck this is way cooler than watching brown destroy the sound system.

I was going to post this exact thread yesterday but I got busy. And yeah, I feel really old too. I bought this day one, I'd just turned 14, and I hated it. I put it away and forgot about is for about 3 months and then got it out again. That was a turning point for me.
Roses, Mondays, Carpets, Charlies, etc., etc., etc.

Interviews with the whole band and John Leckie (producer and of abbey road fame) and engineer Paul Schroeder and whoever it was that signed the Roses in the first place.

One of the best gigs I ever went to was a music programme being recorded for Channel 4 in London in about 1997, it was annoyed on the radio that there where some tickets up for grabs to see The Charlatans, so I phone up the radio station and managed to get them, the only problem was we had to be in London that night. The gig was really small with only 70 people there at the most, and we where about two feet away from The Charlatans playing live, and out of my bloody head on anything we could get are hand on. The Charlatans then played on after the show for an extra hour, Bloody good night out that was

Tim Burgess stole my mates doobage tin when we saw the band after their gig in dundee years ago. my mate gave it to him to autograph and he fecked off onto the tourbus with it. Tim was absolutely out of his face - probably Coke - bouncers were helping him along.
My mate eventually managed to persuade their bouncers to go on the bus and ask for the tin back haha.
- I was always amazed at how badly Tim Burgess sang live. He was awful. Loved the Charlatans though.5timuli

When this first came out I took it to a party and asked the DJ to play any song. He said he never heard of the stone roses and wasnt sure people would be into it. I told him this was the best CD I've ever heard and this band is going to be the biggest band in the world someday. He reluctantly put it on and played "I wanna Be adored" I stood there shoe gazing dancing the entire song loving it and when the track stopped everyone there was like "who the fuck is that, it sucks" and then went back to playing their own shitty music.

When I first heard the Happy Mondays’ “Step On”, I thought it was a joke.
