The Stone Roses announced today that they will reunite in 2012. Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani, and Reni will perform two shows at Manchester's Heaton Park, on June 29 and 30. A 2012 world tour will be announced soon.

Stone Roses to reunite as Ian Brown faces costly divorce bill
The Stone Roses have announced a potentially lucrative reunion as the band’s lead singer Ian Brown reportedly faces a costly divorce bill.

I don't care about his motivations. This band probably should have made several more outstanding albums. 2+ is just not enough. I never say "Great they quit while they were ahead." Sure the Rolling Stones should have stopped in 1978, but what if they quit only after two albums.

I actually had the Second Coming sitting on the back seat of my car for the past few years out of pure laziness. I popped it in on my way home from work tonight. It's totally different than their debut and I hated it when it finally came out but now I think I might like it better than their first.
- Always loved it. For me not as good as the first but class follow upbabaganush
- I've always preferred it to the first one.CyBrainX

Yesss!!!
Hope they keep it together long enough to get though most of the world tour.Looking forward to the guessing game & final outcome of who the opening acts will be...pure entertainment in itself!
Hmmm...James Lavelle DJ sets somewhere along the road (would be interesting but highly unlikely), EMF (ha!/not), nobody at all (possible)...

Don't know whether to be excited or terrified but def looking forward to seeing what they produce after all these years.

Neck some acid and it will be just like the old days!

Okay, viable opening acts...The XX, some sort of Gorillaz thing (maybe just Albarn with an acoustic and a sampler), Little Dragon...
But the most appropriate in my opinion: Warpaint.- haahha, are you twelve? fuck my life.kingsteven
- If you're trying to say only 12 yr olds are into these bands...umm, I'll have to differ on that one.Kiino

Yeah, I can't wait for this reunion, it's gonna be like the best Men Behaving badly episode ever. I've even heard that the band are in talks with Martin Clunes about making a cameo appearance on tambourine. Middle-aged Dads are cool again, yeah!

Really happy about them reuniting. I always regretted not getting to see them live. Their self-titled album is near timeless and it sounds as good today as it did when I first started listening back in '91. I think I found out about them through MTV's 120 minutes with Dave Kendall. I remember their video for "Fool's Gold" (I think) with them in the sand dunes and the aspect ratio of the video being off (intentionally stretched vertically). I instantly loved it. The Second Coming never grabbed me but I will always revisit it after a few years.. Can't Wait!

Fuuuuck, I've tried. I've really tried because I love The Stone Roses. Their first album is a stone cold classic and their second, well I'm with Shaun (of the Dead) - I like it.
But this new track sucks. They're one busker short of a new Seahorses tune.
- ha - enjoyed the last sentence.fadein11
- it's very difficult to mimic, especially with timedrake-von-drake
