Going in three hours. I'm a Trek geek. My wife has never watched the show ever. So i'll check back in with both our impressions later...

Wow. My mind? Blown.
They took it somewhere else while staying true to the spirit of the original. They recognized the heart of the original series was the relationships of the characters and they fulfilled that and more.
Bravo. Bravo.

Yeah, I loved this, saw it tonight and frankly, was really impressed. It reminded me of movies when I was a kid, when they didn't suck.

have to say not a trek fan....but this film is a great entertaining blockbuster movie exeperiance, it is well balanced in action, humor, script and pace. It really is a film that is for a wide audiance not just fans.
If you want some good fun...watch it.

Used to always crap on Star Trek.. saw the movie.. absolutely loved it. Perfect summer flick.
My only gripe is how Kirk weaseled his way into the Captain's seat. I don't care that old-Spock told him to do it. Waltzing back onto the ship and riling Spock into anger by annoying the shit out of him and then merrily plopping down into a chair in a "told ya so!" fashion was really lame.
Emotionally compromised? Did everyone on the ship forget that a week earlier, they had to eject Kirk from the ship because he was flipping shit?
- That was pitch-perfect Kirk characterization though...TheBIueOne

Good film. Loved Chris Pine's nod to Shatner in the last scene.

Not a full blown trekkie, but I liked the original series and the next generation. After that I gave up. The movies always were hit and miss, and even the hits weren't that great. This new one was absolutely amazing. Best Trek movie ever.
