"3. The client was sitting right next to me when I grabbed the font and said they wanted it to look like whats up on fontfabric and since Im doing it for a huge $50, I couldnt care less to argue with them."
this should go front page of the pvn anthology.

Since when did "look like" start meaning "exact copy?"

Here is what I want to know, if you are only making $50 on this thing, and you don't plan to do anything with it later, why the hell do you need a critique on the only original element?
- toucheMarleyMarl
- actually the script is just a logo placement, so not original.horton

BRUTAL! This thread is sad. You should never have posted this man.

using money as an excuse to degrade your integrity has got to be the lamest thing I've heard from a designer this year.
nice work.
- the only difference is he was up front and honest about it as well as neue75version3

you people act like he just sodomized the easter bunny, is it really that bad? i don't think so.
- NONEIS0
It's pretty bad, I think doesnotexist wrapped it up pretty good, nuff said.

You're only guilty of the mistake of posting it here. If client pays for that, wants that, and wouldn't settle for any slight deviations of that, then you give them THAT. and no kittens or easter bunnies get killed.

I don't know. A client once asked me to design a logo based on her sketch, and I began to build it out. I then realized after a bit of research that she had sketched out her direct competitor's logo with her initials and the logo I was providing would infringe on copyrights. Instead of doing what the client asked for (which was basically illegal) I told her that I was not comfortable providing work that I knew was a direct copy.
Just because the guy offered you $50 does not legitimize immoral practices. I can't see how money would legitimize anything illegal.

- I agree. But that's discretion being utilized for that specific situation.dopepope
- It's discretion any respectable designer should employ whenever a client asks for something like this.monospaced
- you just think too much of art and design, the clients don'tPupsipu

So after being shot to death by everyone here on qbn... I went back and argued the client on not making it look the same as what they wanted. This was the happy medium:
Looks similar, yes. But its still not as similar to what I previously had. I hope you all can forgive me and next time I wont sell myself short. (even though she has a great ass)

You know, you shouldn't apologize to us. If you really want to be a designer (in contrary to your user name) you should just apologize to yourself. Because being a designer (should have) nothing to do with the money, it should be about striving to create original work for your clients (quality of ass aside : )
As for this new one, it's actually worse (which has zero to do with location of the logo). It's now a much harder to read because of the stark contrast of what appears to be liquid, filling the letterforms (which alone by themselves are not the easiest to read). Also, how the liquid enters the letterforms and how it (should) flow within them is very unnatural. If this should be liquid, it should perhaps look less like exploding popcorn (among other things). Come on man, get your eyes of your clients ass and start designing. From the looks of your portfolio, it looks like your capable of much more!
- stop encouraging people to sit more at computers and click shit, he already spent so much time doing thatPupsipu

so why is someone peeing *into* the logo now?
- janne760
almost feels like the dick is about to fall over due to gravity and hit the wee 'local'
- dyspl0
mmhhh... I feel the 2nd attempt is a bit weak, compared to the 1st one. for sure you didn't spend as much time to redo it. You could play so more with the liquid going in/out or the letter, and get a very dynamic effect.
well... as you said it's a 5O$ job, but if you spend a little more time on it, you could put it in your portfolio. it's up to you. (And if you are motivated, this font/effect would be the perfect excuse to try realflow!)

Where is the apostrophe?
- version30
it still doesn't read without a second glance, legibility was not a necessity?

This thread is one epic fail after another.

I'm convinced that imnotadesigner should change his username to igotyouallwithafaketrollthread

Thank god 99% of all other design work is purely new and creative! Also smoke was never used before! I've *never seen it!
Give it a rest and get off his case, I doubt this will be the top piece in his portfolio (or in there at all).
