These terms are heavily debated, given that their definitions outside of a given field are vastly similar and also given that their definition inside of multiple design fields are often interwoven (depending on context).
Interaction design has more to do with the design of an experience in which one (person, space, product, service) interacts with another (person, space, product, service) – not solely dependent on products with digital chips in them (as it was first defined by folks like Bill Moggridge and Gillian Crampton Smith) or with screens, though these are often present in many common examples. For example, the design of touchpoints in a service is interaction design.
Interactive has been used commonly to describe interaction specific to design on screen – thus the reason interactive design positions are almost always for web and/or interface work.
Visual design is a often a part of both of these, concerned specifically with the visual aspects – but of course is not limited to being applied to either of the disciplines above.

On a somewhat related topic, there is an interesting post about wireframes by Andy Rutlege here: http://www.andyrutledge.com/wher…

user uxperience designer.
some people say ux designer or ued. anyway, this means I do interaction design as well as information architecture, usability engineering and visual design. I like what I do, but would like to be a chef at some point in my life. tmi?

^ I agree, it's a little bit silly. Like a regular designer would have no idea how to construct a usable interface!
I did have an "interaction design" job once, but it was more about working through business requirements and translating them into designs then just drawing boxes and arrows.

I find these terms incredibly confusing. I don't know how one could be a good interactive designer (or visual designer for interactive or whatever you want to call it) without being being able to hold their own with interaction design/IA/UX skills. I'm contracting for Microsoft right now as an interactive art director but so much of what I produce before visual design involves working out interaction and layout, etc.

Interaction designer - some one who thinks about the layout / position of elements / usage of elements
interactive designer - a visual designer who draws things on photoshop with a good sense of interaction
visual designer - someone who lays out the wireframe in to photoshop

I´m a self-proclaimed interaction designer...?

info archs do not necessarily pursue usability. interaction designers focus on usability.
