The Ultimate Fighter was and always will be pretty lame. The new season may bring another contender to the heavyweight division but the show itself is rather boring to watch.
But... how about those free fights on spike... fucking Gray Maynard! And Nate Diaz! Four great fights in a row IMO.

it is sport a challenge and gladiatorial combat, only real men like it men who shave and eat meat. Not you.
- Khurram0
well done chossy choss aka Ross for saying what you did about Kimbo Slice, because that's how it really am.
- Khurram0
jesus, it's already started. I better be downloading this shit tonight.
peace y'all playa hata's rollin wit ma homey's aiiiiiight safe.

- chossy0
If you get the chance watch, nate quarry v tim cuerey?.... it's pretty amazing, not as amazing as melvin manhoef v cyborg, this has to be the most nuts fight ever.
- brandelec0
so far the best part of this season is rampage and rashad's trash talking, everything else is just "real world" bs
looking at the other guys, i think kimbo has a pretty good shot at it.
- chossy0
That first fight was a disgrace, I really want the guy who won to get fucking hammered later on in the season what a fucking prick. Kimbo looked good but the tall black guy looks like he could fuck you up some, but we all know he has a spinning back fist now eh!.
The training looked ok but fuck all training looks good until those oxen lumber into the ring and end up slowly looping punches and waddling into take downs.- I was thinking "That dude is a big Ernesto Hoost fan" with that backfist!TheBlueOne
- Khurram0
Yeah no shit. I was at this Muay Thai event in Croydon over the weekend and we were treated to some of the most spectacular strike-game shit i've ever seen - it was UK v Thailand, and some of the UK boys were well good.
And then the lumbering fat saggy titted heavy weights came in and it wuz like watching the whole thing in sloooooow motion. Nowhere near quite as riveting.
- d_rek0
chossy,
Agreed about the training - it all looks good on paper.
The one thing i've noticed about the heavyweight division is that the freshbloods have a tendency to 'gas out' after a few minutes of throwing their weight around - think Heath Herring.
- brandelec0
haha i think they showed that spinning back fist 5 times

I find it interesting to see how gassed the NFL players get in this training environment. The NFL likes to promote the whole "complete warrior" image, but there athletes are usually drugged up and broke down - especially compared with MMA guys...with a few exceptions (Jerry Rice, maybe...)..
- I mean, I know it's not nec. fair to compare across sports bc the skillsets are different, esp. among the elite...TheBlueOne
- football is played in bursts.... you start, stop etc.... mma is nonstopdconstrukt
- yeah, you arent gonna see any d-linemen in the cagebaseline_shift
- how many mma fighters are on the offensive line?version3
- kuttyranks0
Boxings still the 'mans' sport :)
- hahaha... boxing SUCKS. boring, rigged and lame.dconstrukt
- good grief, explain...kuttyranks
- I appreciate boxing, but it's rather one dimensional, and the punishment absorbed is rather inhumane.TheBlueOne
- the punishment is human, but as athletes with the combination of aerobic/anaerobic endurance they possesKhurram
- they require is unparalleled in ANY sport. I gotta respect how they build their compelte body fitness systemKhurram
- the punishment is "inhumane" i meant.Khurram
- I could watch 70's era boxing over and over again. I'm undecided on Tyson and after that it's all "meh"...TheBlueOne
- ..except for some of the lightweights..TheBlueOne
- but as someone who trains, boxing as a skillset is just one bit of the total kit..TheBlueOne
- Well yeah, as a combat system, sure. But i'm coming from an "athleticism" perspectiveKhurram
- Old era is my favourite too. Sugar Ray Robinson my fav, and i was watching some Jack Dempsey vids yesterday, He ruledKhurram
- ruled.Khurram
- yeah, as athletes, some of the most optimal for sure..as combo of explosiveness, speed, skill and aerobic..TheBlueOne
- checkout Dempsey's training regime: http://www.kyokushin…Khurram
- that's from the 1920s. That's like exactly how i train Muay Thai today (tiny differences) and we fight 5 roundsKhurram
- and the boxers go TWELVE. Damn... that's fucking intensity that is. I gotta respect that.Khurram
- actually dempsey era went 15... woah... even tho he was renowned for his 1st round knockouts.Khurram
- d_rek0
TBO,
You're right. NFL is a completely different 'discipline'. Those guys are all pigeonholed to perform best under different scenarios - not necessarily to be able perform under a host of circumstance. And like the big black guy said; In the NFL you might get 30 seconds to catch a breath. In the UFC you get 30 seconds to get the wind knocked out of you.
For the NFL players MMA is going to be a completely different regimine of training and if they can put aside a machismo image and embrace that they might stand a chance.
- dconstrukt0
dude, i thought diaz was gonna get knocked the fuck out.... he should have and got lucky as hell with that submission... he's a punk.
kimbo REALLY needs to work wrestling, takedown defense and shit.... look at other stricker.... crocop, chuck etc.... they dont have mad ground skills, but they know how to stop being taken down and how to get up.
kimbo doesnt have that yet.... but he's a natural.... so it can be learned.
- yeah, but his age works against him though. I have mad respect for Kimbo though now, and I didn't beforeTheBlueOne
- his humility and work ethic surprised me in a good wayTheBlueOne
- yeah, true that. didnt think hed hunker down and train like that. And you always get points for training with Basbaseline_shift
- brandelec0
good to see nfl guys gain respect for the sport.
oh and we;ve got titties
- Khurram0
hey guys,
I've only ever seen Kimbo slice fight other hobos. Could you link me to anywhere he fights people who aren't other hobos like him? Except that one cage match he had where he got floored in 30 seconds.
Thx
- The best was when he fought that jiujitsu cop guy back a few years ago...TheBlueOne
- did he win? was the cop a pro?Khurram
- it was an underground fight. the cop went on to fight pro mma, and Kimbo's boys wouldn't let him grapple..TheBlueOne
- Ah..here it is..was Gannon. Probably the one non-scrub Kimbo fought back in the day:
http://www.youtube.c…TheBlueOne - cheers d00dKhurram

dconstrukt.. calling Diaz "lucky" makes yourself look foolish. Diaz is a survivor and incredible at BJJ. His standup is really lackluster, but it doesn't matter, because the dude eats everything that comes at him and always manages to submit his opponent. I'd love to see you pull that sort of technique while getting blasted in the face.
Creuder/Quarry fight was excellent, and Quarry turned the entire fight around thanks to his power. I loved the Condit fight also, that kid is just insane.
As for the HW season so far: First fight was absolute shit, and Rampage is a terrible coach. One of the worst matchups made by any coach yet.
And I'm calling it now, this guy is the dark horse of the entire season:

It was funny how he was referred to as a chubby midget, when in reality he's 6'2. Just goes to show how freakishly large this season is.
- Stupid image url.kult
- Yeah, what little I saw of him last night was fairly impressive...TheBlueOne
- @kult, would be something Nelson vs Schoonover. Both Diaz brothers are born fighters
keiTai
- Point50
I watched that crap last night. I only care to see how the Kimbo fights pan out. That cut was pretty big on that one guy's head. Other than that, this show is still horrible.
