3 as south as possible...
I stayed at the bowery last and it was cool beans. walk to soho. the area is a little spread out around it but the side streets to the west have some restaurants shopos and gallerys, kind of upand coming as they say... the hotel itself is really comfortable, big rooms, good restaurant and relaxing lounge with a really good gin and tonic with hendricks gin. doesn't feel like new york so much...
stayed up more midtown before too, 34th and madison or something, I liked that, middle of it all.
stayed at the hudson, had the smallest room I have ever seen, more of a richly decorated closet.
I like the meat packing area, good variety of stuff all in walking distance. Anyone ever stay at the maritime? Its the bowerys sister hotel. They have a good sushi restaurant downstairs I have eaten at and recommend, big outdoor patio cafe...seems like a good call but never seen the rooms.
yeah NYC miss you xo haha

if the hotel is in 3 or 4, doesn't matter. both are on manhattan.
if you planing on staying inside, pick the biggest hotel. other wise, stay up as long as possible and have fun outside.

- Also ninja, what kind of stuff you gonna be doing? I'd lean towards north #4 as Gordy said.ismith
- no idea what we'll be doing, just going. I have no say over where in each area the hotel is though.ninjasavant

3 or 4. If you like to go out and party I'd say the upper part of 4 near Houston.

North 4 is good, south 4 would suck - Financial is pretty lacking...

3 for more yuppie experience
2 for true tourist expeience
Area below 5 and right 3 and above 4 would central to everything.
Wonder why Central / East Village / Soho is not marked.- Prob no hotels round there in the group the sites advertising?Gordy22

I would say 3, too. The more south in that outlne the better.
Socially the best area of the bunch - close to the West Village, Meat packing and Soho.

my wife had a few days at the Chelsea Hotel lately, and loved it - authentic and unchainy.
Im more of a chain-with-stars person.
Anywhere decent is going to be 280-350, but fuck it.

You should choose a place where its nice but cheap and close to everything.
