I think I saw it in one of the many movie threads not sure but 'The Dig' on Netflix is good
(ducks for timeline bashing)

- Absolutely love it, even if the restaurant bit towards the end drags on and damages the whole imho. Didn't meet its audience, too ambitious for its time.spl33nidoru
- The way he plays with the relationship between with sound and visuals is so clever.mort_
- is it actually graded like that? - looks like a cyraik collagewoowahesque

from an earlier movie. comment on how masterfully 'painted' with sound and visuals.uan - Has a Kodachrome look to it. Not sure.mort_
- Is this the sequel to Mon Oncle? :)futurefood
- i dont doubt that he painted with visuals, and his compositions were like that, but the grade has made it look completely flat.woowahesque
- I mean i quite like it but it s fucking with the perspectivewoowahesque

- Color is amazingnb

- The colour's beautiful! I watched 'Rose Island' recently and was REALLY put off by the hyper-fake post colour grading which was borderline fluorescent.Nairn

I finally watched Trial of the Chicago 7.
Really really good. Good history. Makes you realize that law abusing Republicans existed back then also. Kind of feels timely in that way.
(ducks for timeline violations)
- I really liked it. There were a couple of scenes with redmayne and coen antagonising each other that were so good.thumb_screws
- yes...because it is a core debate about the nature of protest and change.dkoblesky
- you could almost see it as an argument between Warren and Bernie.....about how to make change happendkoblesky

Chan is Missing (1982)
Wood Moy, Marc Hayashi
Really funny!

It's a weird one but I like all the lighting and sets, story is pretty bizarre and it's sort of like Bladerunner crossed with Grease. Willem Dafoe's part is pretty entertaining too.

I came back to it after Gardener posted that Diane Lane pic the other day.

Very simple low key French film, beautifully shot, proving that a modern take on Ozu's minimalistic style is possible today if the subject is intriguing. Loved it.
Seduction on a gay beach + unexpected event is all you need to know if you don't want to spoil it.
Constant nudity and a couple nsfw shots.- A gay flick with constant male nudity, eh? This isn't on Netflix is it? If so, my partner will be wanting to watch it and getting snooty with me when I "er.."Nairn
- Last one was some Latin Lesbian Grandmother flick. I said "It'll be shit", she insisted. It was shit. We both fell asleep a third of the way through, lolNairn
- This one isn't shit, but I'm not telling you you'll find it amazing, it's not amazing, just good and modest, like a quiet Ozon film (regardless of orientation).spl33nidoru
- Not on Netflix, but on Criterion! :)spl33nidoru

- The perfect companion film to The Big Short. Remarkable writing and directing.nb
- in what order do you watch them?grafician
- start with Debussy and finish on the Bach, never finish on Debussy._niko
- Also great.mort_

- Big Short explains the situation better. I’d watch it first. Margin Call is a better movie when you understand the subtleties.nb
